Sorry, seems none of us have experience with your phone.

Have you tried calling Samsung customer services?

I take it you are using Samsung easy studio.

Are you using an irda cable?

If so you need to change the connection in easy studio to IRDA.

Goto file> setup

for connection select IRDA. Please note you can only set this up when u have the IRDA cable plugged in.

Just out of interest what IRDA cable have you got?

IRDA is infrared so the cable you have isnt IRDA.

I have heard that the USB Data cables aren't working with the E700. Did you buy this cable from ebay by any chance? I know for definite that some of those cables aren't working.

I bought an IRDA cable from ebuyer QuickFind code: 47754

Ebuyer USB 1.1 Infrared Adapter allows communication between PC's And Devices at £12.92 inc VAT

I can confirm that this works with the E700.

I use Easy Studio and an MA620 IRDA and it works great for my E700

no i didnt buy it from ebay a market in newcastle...

So how much would an IRDA set me back?

If the data cables (USB) dont work why do samsung sell them?

I haven't heard of anyone have success with the USB data cable on the E700. The data cables seem to work with other models, just not the e700, but they are being sold as working with the E700.

The MA620 IRDA is about £25 upwards. But it does work.

The one i mentioned in my above post from ebuyer costs £12.92 Inc VAT not inc postage. This works and the one i use .

Then download the software from Samsungs website.

ok thanks... i think alot of us need to write strongworded emails to samsung. and demand these cables to be removed from the shelves of shops etc...

The market stall i bought mine from wont take it back

Do they advertise that the data cable works with the E700? If they do and the data cable doesn't work then they are breaking the trade descriptions act.

Also

There are several laws which you can quote if you make a complaint about something you ’ve bought. The most important one is the Sale of Goods Act 1979 (later strengthened by the Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994). New regulations (the sale and supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002)give you extra rights if something is faulty.

The law says that goods must:

fit any description given (for example, on the label or packaging or in an advertisement). So a 'waterproof' jacket really must be waterproof.
be of satisfactory quality. This means they must be in good condition, safe to use, strong enough to last a reasonable length of time and have no faults.
be fit for their purpose. This includes any purpose you made clear when you bought or ordered the goods. So, for example, if you told a shop that you wanted a printer which would connect to your type of computer, the printer should do this.
match any sample you were shown. So if you order a sofa, the fabric must match what you were shown when you ordered it.
come with adequate installation or self-assembly instructions (if appropriate).

Or just don't bother with the hassle cut your losses and buy an IRDA cable.
