Choc Orange cake where to get the orange?
Planning on making the above for my dad birthday cake but I can't seem to find a Seville orange anyone know where I can get one or if a normal orange would do the trick also?
I planning on making two of these not sure whether to stick to round tin or use my silicon square cake tin that I have (bought from asda) not sure of the size of it (maybe someone else has one on here that can tell me?) would I need to increase the quantity by more than double. the ganache would I also need to double this or just work with the quantity there was going to buy double it and keep it until I know I need it. The link for the recipe is: Orange Choc Cake |

I made chocolate & orange brownies this morning. To get the orange flavour I added a splash of Cointreau and the zest of an orange. I'm sure that would work for you. Maybe add the juice of the orange as well in your cake so you have the right amount of liquid?

Thanks for the reply.
I have a recipe (link is in the original post) and it needs Seville orange just wondering if a standard orange bought from supermarket will do the job? The recipe requires me to cook it for 30min then blitz the hole orange up which is bit I am looking forward to the most for some reason?????? Also wondered about the quantity? |

Hi,
I made this about 12 months ago and just used ordinary oranges and it was absolutely fine - and delicious! I think there was a fair amount of ganache so you might not need to double - it depends how thick you want it! It's a lovely cake - enjoy.

The Seville orange season is pretty short (Dec-Feb) so you probably won't find them now, but a normal orange will also work. |

Heat on a thick bottomed pan with a little cointreau or curaçao. Add some brown sugar and cook to a thin a paste. |
