T.A.R.D.I.S

Watching the first episode again i saw the line of the crack in the Tardis, it was when the Doctor was getting the old girl set to take Amy on her first jaunt. On his little screen he saw the crack outline but quickly turned it off, wonder what it means, is the Tardis somehow at the root of the cause of the crack in the universe.

This crack thing seems a bit overkill now. Yes, we get it... there's a crack in space/time and it's going to part of the final episodes of the series! We get it, Mr Moffat. Any chance we can see Amy's crack instead?

No? I thought not.

I wouldn't be surprised if the producers said "we'll give Amy a short skirt so male viewers will look at them each week. That will help boost the ratings!"

Perhaps they will do a scene where it looks like we're going to get a full upskirt view, only for Amy's modesty to be protected by a strategically placed animated Graham Norton?

Call me crazy, but I'm starting to think that the Moff could be doing something different, and that that particular arc might be pivotal in an episode long before the finale...

That was my conclusion from
Spoiler
the 'next time' trailer this week.

(not a spoiler for anyone who's already seen this week's episode)

Agreed -
Spoiler
certainly it would appear that it's presence is noted sooner than we had thought and curiously whilst River Song is still around...did she cause it to escape from prison?

Spoilered not for my hypothesis but for those who've yet to see last night's episode or Next Time trailer

Exactly. I think Moff's decision to reveal the

Spoiler
crack in the wall

so early is one in the eye for those who were on here bleating about how they were going to be sick of seeing it in every episode from now until the finale. I doubt anyone on here thought it would have so much significance so early on

I don't know if you'd count it as bleating, but I had said and maintain that even by the end of Victory of the Daleks I was already a bit bored of it.

on confidential next week there is a whole thing about the crack and the story arc. I hope that means it will be explained soon rather than drag it out far too long.

I'm now beginning to wonder if the crack all stems back from the 10th Doctor meddling with history in 'The Waters of Mars'. Such an intervention has perhaps caused ripples in all directions across the space-time continuum, rewriting the past as well as the future.

Maybe that's why Amy has no knowledge of the Dalek's antics in 'The Stolen Earth'.

I'm hoping The Moff is going with a 24 style of series arc. By that, I mean having an arc that starts out with one thing, which is then dealt with part way through the season, but leads on to an even more important storyline.

After all, this is the first time the main arc of the show has been a prominent feature in the first episode, rather than small, subtle references that get more noticable the closer you get to the finale. It would be interesting to have the doctor deal with the crack in the next episode or two, but have an even greater menace revealed by his interference.

This is also called "making it up as you go along", at least in 24 terms.

Wow! You worked that out yourself? After seeing the Next Time trailer and reading the DS spoilers I'd guess.

I'm not sure that the crack in time and space and Amy not recalling the events of "The Stolen Earth" are necessarily related...

It occurred to me that Amy herself might not be entirely trustworth (whether that is her intention or not) - which is something I'm certain you guys will have discussed on the site, though I've not been on for a while.

Either way I really liked the subtle reference to her not recalling the events of "The Stolen Earth" and making the crack seem like the obvious direction to go with...I agree that the crack is likely to be dealt with sooner rather than later...

I am

The crack is where "two pieces of space and time that should never meet have been pushed together". In Leadworth that means 1990 and 2010 are all mixed up. Thats why Amy doesn't remember and thats also why the Doctor had trouble landing and was 12 years late.

Feel free to point and laugh next week when I am proved wrong
