Obviously 'The Time of Angels'! It was just superb and I can't think of anything else that comes close. It set up the whole story, introduced River Song, it was exciting, ingenious and dramatic in its own right and was just gorgeous to look at.

What say you?

It was a very refreshing sequence. I loved it.

The Stolen Earth was a gooden, as was The End of Time: Part One (at least until we found out the whole church thing had absolutely nothing to do with the plot that is ).

Blink was also a good one, with the message on the wall to Sally Sparrow. Utopia was also quite a good one, with Jack grabbing the TARDIS. Army of Ghosts was another good one, where Rose was on the beach stating 'This is the story of how I died'. Another good one was The Impossible Planet, the Ood chanting 'We must feed' and we were only 2 minutes in! 42 had another good one in my opinion, as it also just jumps in at the deep end. Another favourite is The Unicorn and the Wasp.

Many DW pre-titles sequences are just 'Previously' parts. The Parting of the Ways had a nice 'previously' sequence that was quite menacing.

I think my favourite two out of the many mentioned here are The Time of Angels and The Unicorn and the Wasp.

The Unquiet Dead: Zombiegran stumbling towards the camera, screaming blue gas in extreme close-up. Scary.

The Unquiet Dead
The Shakespeare Code
The Unicorn and the Wasp
Utopia
Gridlock

I like my Pre Title sequence scenes to have that little first scare, that tease before the main things to come and I think those fit the bill

Exactly what I said last night...but now I'm being reminded of others I just have to say it's on a par with the best...sorry but "Why didn't they ask: Heavens!" stays up there as the biggest cheek of all time

Not sure but I really loved the bit last night where The Doctor talks about the galifrein text (not sure how to spell it) and Amy says "What does it say?" and The Doctor replies "Hello Sweetie"

This is one of them. Utopia and the Unquiet Dead are the top though.

I thought it was brilliant.

This was quite specail.....for me though so far nothing beats seeing Jack flying in the vortex hanging on the Tardis!!!!
And going slightly further....seeing three names in the credit sequance!!!! And going even further....YANA...

Have I ever said that I really love Utopia??? No...well I do

Other favourite pre-credit sequances include the unquiet dead, Stolen Earth, The Doctor Dances (one of the best and funniest resolutions of a cliffhanger!), Bad Wolf, Turn Left, and Midnight (for the sheer factor that it doesn't give away the real sense of what the story is going to really be about)

Agree with a lot of what you said there.

I love the resolution to it (Doctor Dances) and I get the impression the Doctor did too.

Utopia is a good as Doctor Who got in RTD's error. Fresh and imaginative and it was the first time in a long time that I felt like I was truly in a truly different "Doctor Who" culture... not explaining myself well there but Chantho was a big part of that, with her "Chan - Thor" dialogue. It was like in the End of the World, and that lady who needed permission before she could even talk. Those lovely little touches. Then of course we had The Doctor squaring things with Jack, which is one of my favourite bits of dialogue in the whole of Doctor Who. This was building up to probably the best 10 minutes of New Who so far. The Masters Regeneration, Jacobi, Smith and Tennant were all on top form for this and this sequence will live long in the memory for me.

Me too It was like a mini-film in its own right yet remained purely introductory in nature. And at 5 minutes I would guess it's the longest pre-titles intro in Dr Who. A real tour de force.

Actually, another one of my faves was in The Doctor Dances, when the Doctor orders the Empty Child to "Go to your room!". That was brilliant and funny all in one.

Of course, since that scene is in the time vortex, they had to insert a reveal of the Futurekind so that it wouldn't blend in to the titles.

The sound of Drums was a cracker:
"This country has been sick... This country needs healing... This country needs medicine... In fact I'd go so far to say that what this country needs right now... Is a Doctor... " (Menacing look to camera)

Classic

Girl in the Fireplace, surely? That gave me goosebumps. Short and sweet.

With TToA intro I especially liked the use of time travel as a plot device. It's something that interests Moffat a lot. It has so much more potential than just jumping from one planet/era to another. Hopefully we'll see more time travel effects in later episodes. It was a stroke of genius to have the Dr and Amy watching events that had happened 12,000 years earlier, and then cutting to show the exact same thing happening in 'real time' before the Dr goes back to the past (or present) and intervenes in the events that he was just watching 12,000 in the future. Time travel has such mind-bending possibilities and I feel Moffat has been the only one to try and tackle some of the intricacies.

My fave pre title sequence was from The Girl in the Fireplace:

"Are you there? You said you'd be here, you promised. Doctor, Doctor!"

Brilliant stuff

(Haven't seen ToA, but am about to Iplayer it will come back if I change my mind )

I'll be interested to know what you think. Compared with other intros the one for ToA is a true epic! An outrageous, time-bending, classy mini-episode in its own right. There's really nothing quite like it in Who, past or present. Clearly Moffat wanted to do something special and he succeeded!

Although clearly it would have been improved by having a dancing cartoon Grahame Norton all over it.

Yes, that would've been the final touch of class
