POND... hmmm...

New to posting here, but I had to join the spec and insanity.

I had a thought, which is likely derived from my uneasiness with the 11th Doctor. I like him, but... I have reservations. Amy seems so much smarter than the Doctor. He sort of comes off a bit thick next to her.

I have a feeling that there is more to Amy than we know, and if my hope for this season turns out to be truth (though I am sure it will not) I would be wholeheartedly impressed.

Imagine if you will that we, the fans, have been misled. What if Matt Smith is NOT the 11th Doctor, but that it is Karen Gillan? Bear with me a moment here...

We know that there is a crack in the skin of the universe and there is the possibility that this is a parallel world into which we have fallen. Let's say that is the case and let's say that Amy is the Doctor. In this parallel world things are truly upside down, because the Doctor is now the companion and the companion is the Doctor.

When is a POND not a POND?

Take POND itself, as an anagram... NO DR.

Okay, I am 90% facetious in making this argument... well, more than 90%... but I really want to be surprised by something this season. So far, its felt like a bit of rehash, same techniques, same tactics... I feel like I have learned nothing new about the Doctor since his regeneration. And I find Amy infinitely more interesting.

Also, I think it would be a stroke of genius to have a female Doctor and to have kept it from the public.

Such a shame it won't come to pass.

I think that would kill the show, and since we saw the tenth Doctor regenerate into the eleventh, it wouldn't make much sense. But I do wonder if there isn't more to Amy than meets the eye.

90%? More like 110%. Beyond absurd and absolutely impossible.

POND is not an anagram of NO DR?

OMG, you're right. Listen, its early Sunday morning here, and I have not had my coffee.

On the plus side - 77 people had read that and you were the first to notice. Thank you!

Most of us didn't bother getting that far.

But NO DR is an anagram of DORN which clearly points to the soon to arrive Lt Com Worf, who will no doubt put everything right in order to restore honour to the house of Moge!

It could happen!

Still, you came back

But I do stand by the >10% of my hypothesis. I want to be blown away by something I have never seen before, and thus far this season, it's not happened.

I know there are many who don't care for POND, but if you look up from her legs, there's a good bit more to her than meets the eye. I'd like to see SM make use of it.

And I really would like to see the Doctor know something that his companion or River has not noticed first.

But, there's still the chance of POND being an Acronym (like YANA was).

So...

Piece Of Nice...?

Trust me, I've never looked at her legs.

Erm, how the hell did you get NO DR from Pond when there's no 'R' in Pond?

Fail.

There's more obvious speculation than this - why has Moffatt named two of his characters after bodies of water? One conclusion is that Amy is a version of River who is somehow trapped (i.e. Pond is a body of water that is 'trapped' by land, not free-flowing like a River). Could Leadworth be trapped in some kind of temporal bubble (that's why Amy can't remember the Daleks and Rory's badge reads 1990 etc), and Amy is a younger River? Maybe Amy herself is in prison in the temporal bubble (backed up be the fact River is said to have been in prison).

Of course this could be complete balderdash.

It's a good job it's NO DR and not NO DP as at least that keeps Jack happy...

Oh, she's the Doctor and River's daughter, from a later incarnation, when he's finally ginger.

Professor River Song's Daughter = Pond.

Tenuous enough for you?

There is something about Amy Pond but not this.

True, but it IS an anagram of NOPD, which (as I'm sure you don't need me to tell you) is the acronym for the New Orleans Police Department. The NOPD are (as I'm sure you don't need me to tell you) the main focus of an upcoming episode, in which (as I'm sure you don't need me to tell you) it emerges that Amy is their greatest enemy, a Mydopan, which (as I'm sure you don't need me to tell you) is an anagram of Amy Pond. The episode (as I'm sure you don't need me to tell you) is entilted "Clobbers" which (as I'm sure you don't need me to tell you) is an anagram of...
