Has anyone here made homemade naan bread? i mean from scratch. The only time i made it a few weeks ago it didn't taste like naan but just normal bread in a naan shape. I had yogurt etc in it.

I haven't made them as yet, though I've tried making flatbread with limited success!

I had a look on the Good Food site and their recipe looks like normal bread (albeit they don't suggest proving it as long).

What recipe did you use?

The Anjum Anand recipe is good but generally I end up tinkering anyway. Sometimes using yoghurt, adding different ingredients in etc.

I've made it quite successfully fortunately Couldn't get over how sticky the dough is though - had to use loads of flour to roll it out.

I want to give it a go!
I've googled a bit, and the anjun anand recipe seems the best (Mainly coz I dont have yoghurt!) - Does anyone have any tips or anything?

I've made them, I think the recipe was in The Curry Secret Recipe book. Can't find the book otherwise I'd put the recipe up.

They turned out quite well, easy to make dough, bake for 3 minutes in the oven and then put them under the grill.

I think some tips to make it taste authentic are using a good yoghurt. Adding some spice to the dough. Getting a good colour on it either with a skillet or grill pan or a hottest or hot oven. A tandori oven would be nice but a pizza stone has been recommended.

Also brushing the cooked bread with melted ghee.
