Your idea of the perfect Doctor Who episode?

What would you have in your perfect Doctor Who episode. What Doctor, who would play him/her. What companion, who would play her/him. What monster would it feature old or brand new. What would the plot be?

I am writing one at the moment. It's a secret to what is going on in it.

The Doctor travels to a planet of homophobic ming-mongs. The Daleks invade with a plan of mass extermination.

The Doctor leaves them to it. Laughing.

Oooohhhh... Good question.....
I'd leave M.S as the Doctor as I think he's doing a pretty sterling job and Amy's a great companion. I'd quite like to see a finale where he completely screws time up (which is where I thought they were going in Series 4 with the whole Pompeii thing) and returns to an Earth governed by The Shadow Proclamation (A very EVIL shadow proclamation) which is led by a future, twisted version of himself!

There's a theory that the parallel world in Inferno was run by an evil alternative of the Doctor. There's certainly hints of it - notable lack of the Doctor throughout all the mayhem that unfolds, unnamed all-powerful dictator... I'd love to have seen it realised, though. "Evil Doctor" as an idea has always fascinated me - the end of the Waters of Mars was a spine-tingling little glimpse.

Hell yeah! Possibly one of the best endings to an episode evr I.M.O. After watching it, I was a little gutted that they hadn't thought of doing it with D.T before and developing it into an episode or two, especially after The Runaway Bride where he switched off for a bit while drowning the Racnos babies...

I'd love the Master to return - earlier in his timeline so the Doctor does not know his guise, though possibly his soul could be locked away deliberately to fool the Doctor. I'd love him to gain the Doctor's trust as a companion through the series, then turn at the end and reveal his true colours.

He shoots and kills the Doctor twice (taking it beyond the 13 regeneration limit and basically 'murdering' the Doctor) before taking control of the TARDIS, set on taking over the universe.

However, the Daleks/Cybermen/Vashta Nerada/Weeping Angels sense a weakness in the universe that accompanies the Doctor's death and each rush to seize control themselves.

Hopelessly outnumbered as the others launch their attack, the Master comes to one conclusion - he'll have to bring back the Doctor to help him fight the others.

I'd have Matt Smith as the Doctor, with John Simm returning as the Master, John Barrowman back as Captain Jack and David Tennant back as the other Doctor. They would go to some beach and all get shirtless, and then Muse or The Killers or something would come along and play a mindblowing live set. Then Keith Murray from We Are Scientists and Andrew VanWyngarden from MGMT would just randomly turn up and join in on the shirtlessness action.

It'd be the best episode of Doctor Who ever, I'm telling you.

Maybe that's the thing though, a lot of people loved the dark moments and if they did a full episode or two of it there's probably too much danger of it catching on... plus as much as I loved that scene in WoM, my mind was telling me it was WRONG WRONG WRONG. But that was presumably what they intended...

So bringing it back on topic, I'd love an episode with hints of a darker Doctor, but not so much that it overshadows his good side. The Master could be involved - he could bump into the Doctor at a very lonely point in his life, who is finally slightly persuaded by the Master to come around to his way of thinking, until he sees how mad the Master really is and sets out to stop him as a way to repent. I really want this.

Muse could play Uprising as a new take on the theme tune and there could be an amazing joke in this as well:

GENERIC ALIEN: Who are you?
DOCTOR AND SCIENCE-Y LOOKING COMPANION: We're just scientists.
GENERIC ALIEN: Liars!
DOCTOR AND SCIENCE-Y LOOKING COMPANION: Really, we are scientists!
WE ARE SCIENTISTS: You called?

*commence previously mentioned episode-long rave*

I hope the master get's to make another appearance once M.S has settled down an established himself a bit more... I'd love to know what happened to him after he fought back Rassilon and once the Doctor realised that the drumming was real, he seemed to share an eerie connection with the master, just for a fleeting second. I get your point that a whole two eps of evil Doc could be a bit much, so maybe you could have him persuaded over to the dark side for a bit of the ep, only to be snapped out of it in the end, just in time for a spectacular finale.

Another thing that made my spine tingle was in the End Of Time when it looked like the Doctor would have to kill the Master to stop the Time lords. I'd love to see an ep where he has to make that decision and see it through and face the consequences. I wonder if he could kill his oldest friend?

Yeah, that was an incredibly tense moment - was on the edge of my seat. My gut said he wouldn't do it but I was really starting to think he would. I think if he had done it, though, it would have been too far in those circumstances - the Tenth Doctor killing not only an unarmed man, but his oldest friend as the climax of his swansong is just too dark.

And I still think that he just wouldn't do it, even if it was more justifiable from a story point of view, and if he really, really had to, they would somehow sweeten the deal, ie. make the Master die willingly or resurrect him at the end.

It's a tough one I suppose as The Doctor's Morals are his strongest weapon and if he crosses that line there's no going back... I suppose my solution to that would be to get a companion to do it, maybe mid series and give the Doctor and Companion the rest of the series to deal with the fallout from it, only for the Master to return at the end of the series looking for revenge. As I side note, I loved John Simm's Master but I think if we've got a new Doc, it'd be nice to have a new master.... I thought Derek Jacobi was incredible and it'd be nice to have an older Master with such a young Doctor... Maybe Ian Mckellen or somebody with as much weight and power as him???

I love that idea about the companion killing the Master without permission and having to face the consequences. There have been times where I've wondered why companions - Nyssa especially - haven't just shot him dead without a second thought, it should really happen one day. Suppose it already has with Lucy Saxon actually.

I'd keep John Simm actually, I think it's nice to keep a bit of continuity for the new Doctor at first - that's why I liked River and the Weeping Angels both coming back last night. Plus I'm just a massive fan I think he's an amazing Master.

He was a great Master and I'd love to see him do more.... Maybe he could be the Master for the ep where he's killed and have somebody new for the finale (Listen to me banging on as if I'm actually writing an ep!!)

I loved the line in The End of Time about the two Time Lords who voted against Rassilon's plan being like 'The weeping angels of old' I'd loved to see that explored in the new series, but I'm pretty sure it was a bit of a red herring...

The Doctor travels to the Monaco GP in the 60s era of Grand Prix racing as a gentleman's sport to find the cars are going a lot faster than they should in this time period due to some alien tinkering...

If you could include some sort of spacebattle in that too then yeah, absolutely perfect

(somebody was going to say this anyway)

One without Graham Norton dancing across it.

I'm loving Matt and Karen as the Doctor and Amy. My perfect episode would take them somewhere unexpected and would not involve any of the 'old' characters. Barrowman and Co. have had there exits written twice already. It's good that Amy has no family although there's something odd there as her mother gave her the apple.

My favourite episode of Doctor Who hmm something to do with the planet of handsome looking guys... The Doctor gets lost among them and the only way to find the doctor is to kiss the guys... oh and I'm the companion.

Huh my fingers got carried away there... I wasn't even thinking what I was typing!
