There's finally a date/venue set for the actual show starting! March 29th, 2011, in the Palladium:

Bit of a large gap between the tv show finishing and the winner starting as Dorothy!

(On a complete side note, I'll miss Sister Act )

Quite glad that there's such a long gap. With this year's winner being so young, that time will be vital in developing stamina.

Has anyone bought tickets from this site before? Because it seems little odd to pick this site as the first one to release tickers on and not something like ticket-master, and there is noting about tickets on any of the other ticket sites. Just want to be sure its legit

It directs you to Seetickets, loveofskins

Whilst I think it's good there is time for lots of rehearsals, I can't help but feel it might lose the show interest and ticket sales. I'm probably going to find myself getting slightly impatient to go and see it. Some of those girls are good enough to start in the show at the beginning of the autumn, I'd say. (September/October time)

I'll buy nearer the time. I hope Sister Act is transferred - I love that show!

No need really. The 3 best in the competition, Danielle, Stephanie and Steph, are all obviously capable of doing the show right now! They don't need all that time to prepare.

Add Lauren into that and then you're talking she's the only one to have done a full schedule of performances each night when she was in Peter Pan for 2/3 months so she definitely has the stamina and ability.

I'm absolutely gutted that Sister Act is closing for this. If I hadn't gone off the Over the Rainbow show after Bronte's abominably early exit, I would now. ARGH!

Not necessarily. The Sound of Music took its toll on Connie, and she had a lot of previous experience. It's stamina that I'm thinking of, not performance ability.

I feel like the hype will be all over by the time this actually comes out

^ What Jmor said. It was quite a lengthy wait for Oliver! as well. I think they're going to have to keep which ever girl wins in the public eye a fair bit otherwise it's all a bit for nothing. I don't see why it couldn't have been put in a different theatre and therefore could start showing earlier, but it is clear this is ALW's baby and I think he is planning on it becoming the new, biggest and best show on the West End, so I'm not surprised he's waiting for the Palladium.

To be honest,I think all of the OTR's have been far more interesting and exciting in their own right, than the expectation of watching the Stage Musical whoever wins it.

I did'nt go and watch SOM,Joseph or Oliver (could'nt get tickets for Oliver when wanting to go). Then again was'nt dis-appointed as not keen on Jodie.

However despite my own personal reservations, with all the hype,I am sure it will be a success.

They will have preview shows before March 29th which to whoever wins will feel like the proper thing.

I only got to see Oliver, and was more excited about seeing Gwion, Burn Gorman, Rowan Atkinson, Sarah Lark and Julian Bleach than Jodie!

And even so, I enjoyed IDA more than the stage show itself.

They'll probably do the same with this. A big name for The Wizard, and for a few other characters, and so even if the girl that wins is not a crowd-puller, the other names fill the deficit and keep interest going long after OTR is finished.

I think this is DEFINITELY the least interesting of the 4 shows in terms of what the final West End show will be like. I wish it was being changed a lot rather than just going for the Judy Garland film. With Wicked being its prequel in some ways it would have been great if they had done a new Wizard of Oz stage show that felt more like Wicked's sequel.

Oliver! has plenty of great songs but WoO doesn't.

Its interesting to note that they are going to call it The Wizard of Oz and not Over The Rainbow.

I thought ALW was going to do some kind of adaption of the Wizard called Over The Rainbow.
