I'm new to these forums, so as this is just a theory and some things I've noticed....I'm gathering I don't have to include the spoiler box?

Anyway, I've read a couple of posts in here since the first episode, and noticed that people picked up on the brand of Laptop shown in the first episode. The laptop was a brand called MYTH although the Y had been replaced with the Greek symbol for Psi (Ψ).

Then at the end of that episode there was also a mention of Pandora/Pandorica relating to the cracks that were appearing, which again if it is related to Pandoras box, is Greek mythology.

Anyway, I noticed in the most recent episode that there was a semi-continuation of the symbols. When Amy was trapped in the room with the TV screen, and she reached for the door handle to try and get out, they zoomed in on the door, and there was a symbol on there which at the time I thought was Omega (another letter of the Greek alphabet). I've gone back and had another look, and although it isn't a complete Omega, it certainly is based on it.

When I had a look at the Greek alphabet, it almost looks as though it is the Omega sign with the Pi sign inside of it.

I also noticed that behind Amy, were some symbols on a fire extinguisher or a box on the far wall, but I couldn't really get a screen cap on those.

I'm not normally into the whole "everything has to mean something" mentality, but I wondered if anyone else had noticed any Greek symbols in either of the other episodes that could bring this together. Just seemed a bit "Bag Wolf" like.

Sure you probably noticed this but it's also the shape of the door handle.

Interesting theory, could mean something, but it could be nothing... I guess we'll find out in 9 weeks whether you are right or not

That said, I thought I noticed something about a screencap of Flesh and Stone, not sure if this needs spoilering as it is just speculation, but . I personally think I am now looking for symbols where there aren't any.

I did it with The End of Time. Donna Temple Noble- I assumed Temple Noble was a Latin translation of Timelord or something similar to the same effect.

Going along with the Omega Idea I found the following information regarding a character called Patience who was related to Omega and apparently was the wife of the doctor in earlier incarnations

think we might be on to something here - i think if we look hard enough we'll also see two Phi's and Alpha and then tau - its SM's nod to us all:

In further reference to Omega, and please note that I have never watched the old series and may have the completely wrong end of the stick, but Omega had the ability to shape his own universe to his own will and when he became lonely he would disrupt the landscape around him in some shape or form.

Now I may be looking far too much into this, but maybe the disturbance of the landscape is what the crack is in the walls following the TARDIS. Or rather, the TARDIS may have fallen through such a crack at the start of The Eleventh Hour when the Doctor was out of control and we are looking at it from the inside (does that make sense). In this world Omega is infuriated and is setting to escape from the universe he is in, bleeding into ours and will be the ultimate adversary in the finale. It would also lend explanations to the advanced technology in Leadworth as well as the fact that Amy never witnessed the daleks. It would also explain other random little things- why there are no ducks in the duck pond- tiny little things missing from the world.

You could also go as far as to say this is why in that 3D trailer they had the Doc and Amy falling into the ground. It may also somehow tie in with the stormy time vortex....

I just had a look at the preview for next weeks episode, and you get a better shot of River's arm, which shows the logo on her uniform, is the same as the one on the door. Still don't know if it means anything.

I'd love to know, as I have never seen them. I have only ever seen one Jon Pertwee story and other than that have no experience of Pre-2005 Dr Who

Haha, that one made me laugh I just used the ever-'trustworthy' wikipedia as well as one of the Dr Who books, so I could be completely wrong.

I will watch some more Ol' Who one day, I wasn't actually around for any of it the first time. In fact I had no idea what Doctor Who was until about 2004.

Ooooh.... in extension to my theory about a possible return from Omega (which does seem very in tone with this series for some reason), I have just thought about this in relation to River Song....

Of course, Alex Kingston cannot portray River forever.... if they are supposed to meet out of chronological sequence, this is going to get harder as Kingston gets older. It may also become harder to get Kingston back in future series- appearing in 4 episodes a series when you aren't even in the opening credits is quite a big dedication when you have to 'migrate' to Cardiff for filming every time.

But I was thinking, if we follow this theory that this series is in fact in the Omega universe, then maybe River's history in fact lays with an alternate universe Doctor and she just doesn't know it. It would help explain all the other times she could have met the Doctor and then in the finale, she ends up back in our universe to suffer her fate in the library. Jus an idea.

I only started watching Dr Who during the Sylvester McCoy era, and then it was over. Most of the earlier ones I have seen, I had to buy on DVD. Doesn't matter when you join anyway, it's the beauty of Who that we are all different ages and from different "Doctors". I love multi-doctor stories anyway, so you have given me the perfect excuse to have a look.

Sorry, one last extension to my theory..... what about The Adventure Games as well.

The 4 episodes of that are supposed to tie in with the fifth series, and by my calendar if they are released on a weekly basis then they will conclude on the same day as Episode 13. What if that London in the trailer for the game, in 1963, is in fact London from this alternate Omega world?

And yes, I agree- I think I could look back at any period of Doctor Who and just start watching.

More likely that Omega is trying to smash his way into this universe...

Did he? You mean that they can deviate from the script in her book - now that would be the opposite of the moral of Blink...instead of the 'dont look' which was just the opposite of the instruction...

Don't want to spoil the party of all the Omega theories but could there not be a much simpler explanation? The soldiers are all churchmen. So the Omega thing could also be a reference to the Alpha and the Omega. One of the ways Christ is referred to in some versions of the bible.

I can understand them not using the cross, as it's probably better being left ambiguous as to exactly which denomination they are. They could have used all sorts of different icons though.

That's true; I did find it interesting that he would have chosen the church as the military presence. Maybe because having the church hunt angels is an idea that brings up connotations of the fallen angels, hinting possibly that the angels didn't start out quite so bad. They do kill you in the nicest way, for the most part. (Poor Bob)

The end of the Doctor? How about the Valeyard somehow, if you take 'the end of the Doctor' more literally. Now I really am looking too far into all this

I'm not sure about greek lettering, I personally took the myth plus greek lettering as a further pointer to the significance of greek mythology.

Regardless one of the first rules of textual analysis whether its a novel, film, poem, TV show etc is that refferences to classical mythology are almost always significant. The most obvious refference is "Pandorica" which is a slight variation on Pandora.

If you look at the myth in more detail it gives some very obvious clues on the general direction of the plot, Pandora opens a box which unleashes various evils on the world it has allready been speculated elsewhere that this is a reference to a prison containing past enemies, which seems logical given prisoner zero etc.

Looking at the myth or Pandora in more detail though there are far more interesting points.

1. Pandora is a woman, this is a key part of the myth, in fact she is the first woman created by the gods. There are two key female characters so far, Amy Pond and River Song. It stands to reason that one of the two will open something, letting out a bad thing or things.

2. Pandora is sent by zeus as a punishment on the earth for prometheus's theft of fire. I'm convinced that this detail is significant but again i'm not sure why. Possibly revenge of the timelords for the doctor effectively destroying them in end of time. The timelords are the greek gods of dr who, did the dr not steal the tardis? I know more about greek mythology than who unfortunately but i'm sure someone can fill the gaps in my knowledge.

3. When Pandoras box (jar to use the proper translation) it lets out evil but traps hope. Many scholars talk of the imprisonment of hope in the box. I'd speculate that either river or amy will play the pandora role (my money is on river) while the other (most likely amy) is hope. Perhaps amy is infact prisoner zero but in the inprisonment of hope sense, perhaps it is even the dr who is the "hope" that will be imprisoned.

At this stage this is all wild speculation, but the more you look at the myth of pandora the more you see that could map out what will happen in who.

Prisons, something being opened, hope, the prominent role of a "decieitfull" females and will all be significant as will some sort of god figure(S?) and punishment for a theft.

That was a bit rambling but hopefully someone will make sense of it.
