Oh i am so going to be an avid viewer now, though 6 nights a week might be a bit too much to hadle, but the Emmerdale scripts dont seem to be going down hill due to it.

Emmerdale is the Dallas of our British soap, it doesnt take it self seriously and always takes the piss.

Pure class, count me in as a fan now

Screw Eastenders

That's true - Emm has everything, including the sublime and the ridiculous (or to put it another way, from Sadie to Marlon).

Heyho!

It's marvellous, been my favourite soap for a while now.

The writing is superb, great humour that beats even Corrie these days imo, wide range of characters, tons of funny ones, good storylines that can be just as enjoyable when they're mad or throwaway as they are when they're serious and realistic. Acting that can be as good or better thna the rest of them. It's got it all!

If you think 6 nights a week is too much, just wait, I here that it will be on 7 nights a week in a fortnights time.

There is a petition for this here I think it was set up by another DigitalSpy member

Yeah great... considering there is not a village on Earth like this... Talk about real-life representation, this soap takes the biscuit.

a realistic drama/soap.
It just doesn't make sense. A documentary yes but a fiction ?

H&A is certainly keeping us on out toes :
Nick is about to go to Hollywood but he still has new stuff happening to him (I'm talking about tonite's episode, he had an epilepy attack didn't he ?).
That just came out of the blue, and it's the kind of things that makes H&A better than EE and the likes.

In fairness, it probably only came out of the blue because it doesn't get much press coverage here at all. If it was a British soap watched by an audience that our big soaps are used to getting, you'd probably have known about it well beforehand..

I hate it when people say soaps aren't realistic. They're not meant to be!

The whole point is to create a community and characters that people end up loving, and back it all with unrealistic and fictional storylines!

It's just a bit of escapism, something you're meant to enjoy, not over analyse.

And yes, Emmerdale has been on top form for a long time now! But I would prefer it to go back to just 5 nights a week...

I don't mind Emmerdale being on six nights a week. Rather than decline in quality, it's stepped up a gear in my opinion and is vastly superior to both Corrie and Eastenders at the moment. I daren't miss an episode now whereas I can't remember the last time I watched an EE ep in full.

Totally agree, Emmerdale has beaten all the other soaps in my books for ages.

Does anyone know of a petition to swap Emmerdale and Corrie's 7pm and 7:30pm timeslots on a trail for ITV1. I'd go for it.

I think Corrie beats it everytime, not that we don't like Emmerdale though.

I dunno. I love Corrie, but the whole Todd being confused about whether he's gay or not is dragging on a bit. Still good though.
But IMO Emmerdale has improved a lot lately.

Ive been an avid watcher of Emmie for about 6 or 7 years now, and it has really improved. And Im very suprised that there aren't as many viewers as Corrie or EE.

I think people still think that Emmie is all about Farming etc, and that is why people don't watch it, which is a shame, because it is a very good soap.

And Mark Channock should have won Best Actor at the soap awards, and 'The Storm' should have won best single episode!

I don't know what people see in Eastenders that makes it so different from the other soaps.
