Some Nokia forums are saying an official price for the Nokia N8 has been revealed. The N8 will cost €370 Euros before Tax & Subsidies.

If the price here in the UK really is the equivalent of €370 plus VAT which i reckon equates to around the £350/360 mark then for that price then N8 will be a bargain and a very popular handset indeed!

I'm going for free on £25 pm 24 month contracts or £30 on 18 month.

I just hope Nokia have sorted themselves out, there last few handsets have been a disaster to be honest

When did it get announced? Link please as I can;t find the info and I'm interested in reading about it.
Here is a video of what is claimed to be the N9. It looks impressive with the qwerty keyboard and only slightly thicker than other leading brands.. I was going to get the N8 but will wait for this till it comes out as I prefer keyboards as well. I think Nokia haven't done themselves any favours by leaking this one as people may hold off purchasing the N8 until this comes out...It remains to be seen...

It was one of those "leaked" models.

Side-slider format, full keyboard, 4" screen, 8mp/dual led camera, but no naming. As it was running Symbian in the leaked videos, and Nokia have stated that the N8 is the last N-series Symbian device, its not going to be an N-series product. Possibly C or E series.

Some basic info available over at gsmarena, or browse to sites like mynokiablog.

Play.com has N8 on their website. End of August is looking likely for release who have the N8 up for pre-order from 31st August which is only 4 weeks away. If not then, it could be 1st week of September. Their N8 is the one in black.

Play.com has now updated the release date to 08 October 2010 (although MobileFun is still 26 August).

If previous rumours were true, Nokia really are delaying the release of this device

However, it seems as though we're going to have to be patient, as the UK release date has been confirmed as 25 August 2010.

.

I'm inclined to assume the end (25/26) of August was a real release date. I don't see why Vodafone (UK) or T-Mobile (UK) would post "Coming Soon" pages in the week of 26 July for a device that's three months away. That together with the fact that both Play.com (a reputable online retailer) & MobileFun listed availability dates between 26-31 August to me provides very strong evidence that 26 Aiugust was the scheduled release.

Hopefully there are no further delays or i suspect many (like i probably would) would go with another device/Manufacturer/OS if it's delayed again. I for one am undecided between the N8 and the HTC Ace/Desire HD.

OK, i (partially) take back my comments above, just had a thought and looked back at the Leaked UK mobile phone release dates from 06 July and the Nokia N8 IS listed in October. So the phone could have been scheduled for a October release.

Eschewing plastic and corner-cutting for an assured metal frame, the N8 looks the part but will Symbian^3 be enough in a post-Android smartphone world? We’ll find out this October.

Now I'm thinking, this could always have been the case, or it was brought forward to August (my reasons for thinking this are as above) only to be pushed back to October. It's anyones guess.

Well I've not own an Nseries device. infact, prior to my current phone (an E51) I've always had a fairly standard phone.

What's pushing me towards N8:

FREE Lifetime Satnav

with downloadable (no GPRS/Wifi required) and voice navigation.
12mp camera with proper flash
It's a Nokia (I've always had a Nokia

tried other phones (not out of choice but didn't like them)
HDMI
Confirmed front-facing camera
What's pushing me away from the N8 & to the HTC Ace:

Android (heard many positives about Android/HTC).
(Possibly) greater app choice than N8 (as N8 is running a new OS).
Performance of my Symbian 9.2 S60 based E51-1

Regular freezing, sometimes to a point where power button doesn't help and required battery removal & reinsertion

Losing GPRS/Wifi connectivity randomly requiring reboot to fix

Rebooting itself
HTC Ace/Desire HD (is rumoured to have) bigger screen & better/faster (1GHz) processor.
Another factor playing a part in my decision is network availability. I'm happy to stay with O2 (no 3G at home), but am willing to move to 3 (most reliable 3G coverage at home). I'd also go Vodafone although there reception can be dodgy at home, so they're lower down my list. Orange & T-Mobile are right at the bottom for me.

August to October is one hell of a delay! And also another cock-up for Nokia. They never learn do they.

I'm surprised MobileFun has it down for 7th September which is a week and a half away from the original August release date. Could it really be released by then?

I think end of September/1st week of October is most likely when we'll see the product in the shops.

That's dearer than the Desire HD (if the Amazon listing balls up is genuine), I know which one I'd rather have.

They only ever quoted Q3 as when it was released, Aug appears to have been plucked from the air by Amazon DE originally and then everyone copied it.

nokia can't release a flagship phone that isn't ready, like they did with the N97, again. they do have to get it right at launch.

i should add that there are 3 versions of the N8 firmware on the the update test server.

10.18
11.5
11.7

11.7 is the first one to include a euro product code. and therefore english language.

it is tagged as 2010-08-17T09:01:14, so they're obviously still working on it.

£350 + VAT. So over £400. And if it somehow drags into next year for release, that'll be another few percent increase.

Got an email from Vodafone today (signed up to be alerted about availability) saying...

Vodafone bring you yet another amazing exclusive. The incredible 12 megapixel Nokia N8 with Carl Zeiss Lens and Xenon Flash is available exclusively in green, only from Vodafone.
Note that say "...available exclusively in green...", Is my understanding of that correct in that you can only get it in Green from Vodafone? If so, thats not good. It's a horrific green too. (See the Green N8 as shown in the email here: http://f.chtah.com/i/12/2069779703/24_08_10phone.jpg

The Nokia N8 also features a non-removable battery, like the iPhone
That's put me right off.

Well unless you want 219000 fart apps it knocks the iPhone into a slightly off level piece of head ware.

my only concern with this is that with my N97 i have to remove the battery with a reasonable frequency.

and i don't want to have to get my torx set out to do it.

Very good chance the N8 will be released in mid-September and not October as previously stated.

Could very well be released in the next 3-4 weeks.

Hollywood here i come!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKeHmAs6uJw

I don't know about you but the phone has seriously gone up in my estimation. And not only that but on Tesco's very own website they will be selling the N8 PAYG when it gets launched for a mouth watering £289.97! That is an incredible price for that phone! I'm not sure if they've made a mistake or if it's a price Tesco have agreed to with Nokia but amazing! Be even more amazing if its unlocked and sim free but i think that could be unlikely. Also included is free delivery and 6 months interest free credit.
