Hollywood here i come!

I don't know about you but the phone has seriously gone up in my estimation. And not only that but on Tesco's very own website they will be selling the N8 PAYG when it gets launched for a mouth watering £289.97! That is an incredible price for that phone! I'm not sure if they've made a mistake or if it's a price Tesco have agreed to with Nokia but amazing! Be even more amazing if its unlocked and sim free but i think that could be unlikely. Also included is free delivery and 6 months interest free credit.

Yeah I spotted this. And with my staff discount and potentially a money off voucher for direct I could be getting this phone for £250!

Apparently the Nokia N8 is due out on the O2 network in the 1st week of October, and some customers have already been told that they can get the N8 from 6th October.

Expansys however have the phone down for 20th September.

More Tesco N8 news:

Tesco are to sell the N8 on their own 12/24 month contracts. The cheapest price you can obtain the N8 is £85. The highest is £185.00. Cost per month varies from £20-£40 which includes unlimited texts and data.

It's still down as 'Coming Soon' but Tesco really seem to be on the case with this!

my only concern with this is that with my N97 i have to remove the battery with a reasonable frequency.

and i don't want to have to get my torx set out to do it.
You don't have to take the battery out, a long press on the power button will perform a reset. I read in one of the reviews you press it for about 8 seconds and the phone reboots.....somekind of hardware feature apparently.

Looks like we've finally got a UK avaiilability date, now all we need is the pre-orders to open.

So, it's been confirmed Tesco, Vodafone & T-Mobile will be offering the N8, with rumours that O2 will be too. Any ideas about Orange & 3 (particularly 3)? Surely O2 (and possibly Orange & 3) need to start at least listing the device as "coming soon" if they'll be offering it?

Good news so all we need is a price! Expansys (they say Mon 20th Sept for when they have N8 in stock) and Play.com both have £419.99 sim free and unlocked which for me is rather steep. Tesco has it for £289.97 on PAYG but locked to T-Mobile and there's no news on availablity. But what is the actual price?!

After some consideration, I've decided I might want to buy one of these phones. At the moment I have a Nokia 5800 which has basically the same features except for the improved camera, HDMI etc. I would only want this phone for the improved performance with streaming video and web browsing and one or two other things. If I traded in my 5800, how much could I expect to pay for a N8?

we don't know how much it's going to cost yet so nobody can tell you. but to sell or trade in your 5800 is worth 60-70 pounds.

Courtesy of NokNok website the UK price for the N8 has been revealed!

£429 incl. VAT!

That's £10 more than Play and Expansys. I was sure it would be between £350-£399. But if that really is the genuine RRP then for me that's too much.

September 30th seems to be the release date for Nokia N8 (i'm guessing in stores?) but available from Nokia Online from Sept 23rd.

Looks pretty crap.

3.5" Screen, 640Mhz processor, Symbain, etc

Nice camera though, but a 12MP camera isn't a good reason to select a smartphone.

Nokia won't make much headway with the N8 or anything else when confronted by the Android alliance and the fruit machine.

It's finally here! Nokia UK N8 pre-order page is finally up and running. Available at the end of September and you can choose from 5 different colours. That's the good news!

The bad news it costs a whopping £429!

So much for signing up to Nokia UKs "Keep Me Informed" thingy for the N8. Not had any emails from them yet.

I wonder why O2 are only doing one plan, a 24 month one? C'mon O2 give us 18 months!

Although, looking at the out of allowance charges, O2 is marginally cheaper than Vodafone, and quite a bit cheaper than T-Mobile. The question is though, will anyone actuallly use more than O2s minutes/text allowance (the Internet allowance will probably be the easiest to go over).

it's all about the deal i guess.

tesco are offering £125 phone 18months @£25 500 minutes plus unlimited texts and data
which seems very reasonable ok the phone is a bit pricey but most people will be replacing a decent phone that they can sell for around that.
if vod will match that i'll take it.

the same contract at 12 months the phone costs £185 which i will take if vod wont match the 18month one. the handset will be worth more when i come to sell it anyway, or you could go sim only and make your money back over the next 6 months.

incidentally running the numbers on the tesco contracts they seem to be charging around £305 for the handset.

I'm just going to wait for the payg and/or contract upgrade prices - although the latter may be awkward, as it doesn't so far appear as though its going to be offered on Orange (yet T-Mob are offering it, the same company?)

After having setup my sons iPod Touch yesterday, I'm now slowly moving towards the idea of an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 instead .....

Look's like Nokia have updated their website and now list more O2 contract plans, including an 18 month one.

that's quite an accusation.

average compared to what? 1 or 2 cutting edge phones some of which cost more and don't have the camera?
