Just had an e-mail from Nokia to say that the phone is now available with next day delivery (£30 a month).
Shame my present contract is not up until Dec 9th.

could you be a lamb and tell me your product code when you get it. 7 digit number beginning 05xxxxx under the battery. Although, if your question re product code is about the branding, I don't see any evidence of operator branding. Ahh, found it. Theyve added oroduct code the the listing of version info using the *#0000# command. Product Code of Nokia N8 from NokiaDirect.co.uk Pre-order on O2 Pay Monthly: 059C5Q8 |

device received, although i have no plans to open it up just to get the product code. The N8s have torx screws holding them together remember, no more easy batter removal like past devices. I'll see if theres another way to find the product code and let you know.

Where did you buy your N8 from? How much and what colour is it?
I order the black (or should I say dark grey) one on a O2 18month contract at £35/month, so not Sim Free, All's working, even had my PAYG O2 number ported to the new contract within 3 hrs |

It is indeed unbranded. 059C5Q8: N8-00 RM-596 Country Variant United Kingdom GB V1 Dark Grey |

Don't think Nokia Online sell the black N8 so it's most likely the grey one, although funnily enough the simfree Tesco N8 is black. Still not for sale yet.

I can say though that with me trying it it seems pretty good. Quote:

As a previous Symbian (non-touch) S60 3.1 user, I'm not having much trouble adapting to menus etc. iOS users may though. The only negative i can give have been mentioned before which I agree with...

Qwerty keyboard in landscape only
Accelerometer screen rotation overly sensitive)
Although I don't seee these as major as they should/could be easily corrected in firmware/OS update Let me know however if you have any other questions about it and i'll be happy to help. ![]() Actually, i only noticed this morning that there's a stick on the back (under the protective sticky plastic) with the Serial/IMEI number AND Product Code as well. As this is unbranded, could i asssume it's unlocked also? Not checked yet if this unit is network blocked or not. I assume it isn't as it was bought from Nokia and not a network. If it is, I may just go that route in future as it's a contract phone without network locks. |
