Cat Food Horror

Opened a foil tray of cat food and it smelt like a dead body! - took a good 10 minutes for the smell to go away after I febreezed the place and opened the front and back door

What was that?

The use by date was fine - 2011 - could it be it hadn't been sealed properly?

Still shuddering remembering smelling it! Needless to say the cat ran a mile

You're almost certainly right. It would have been a dead body of some description... unless your cat is a veggie.

Probably smells of dead body because it is dead body. Maybe it just wasn't dead enough when it was canned.

I've come across that with dog food and it turned out that the tin container was bashed and pierced so it had gone off. Smelt worse than a teenage boy's bedroom.

I was ill

Doesn't help that I'm a veggie and dog food gives me the dry boak at the best of times.

You should report it to the manufacturer.

All cat food stinks unless it is the dried variety.

Complain to the company who produced the cat food.

I have had it a couple of times with different food. The first was with a prescription only one where all 12 pouches where blown they didnt even fit in the box. The second was with purina one. I had brought a new bag on the saturday by the monday all my 5 cats where puking up one by one. I contacted purina and they investigated it they said the ingrediants where in normal range. They did phone up ever day too see how my cats where and if i took any of them too the vets to tell them immediatley. In the end i got 3 £5 pound vouchers for the company products. Sadly one of the 5 died 2 months later he was never the same after that. I could never prove it was the cat food but i knew it was. I would complain about it now.
