If you mean so you can see data via My Computer yes there is. A freind of mine had a program did allow this though I am afraid I can't tell you it because I can't remember but it is possible, I will try to find out for you though.

To be honest I am not sure you have a lot of choice. I am not sure of a way to add content without itunes, there may be a way (I wish there was as I am not a massive fan of itunes either) but I don't think there is. One of the designs with itunes to attempt to get money out of people even if someone never buys something. Sorry I can't be more help.

64GB iPod? Is that a 64GB iPod touch? If so then the only way to access the file-system on the iPod directly is if you jailbreak it.

I've transferred all my music and videos onto my iPod touch using iTunes and have no problem with it. It can convert tracks to AAC if you wish and you can choose what you want transferred as well as edit the tags so they are labelled correctly. In fact I've found iTunes does a very satisfactory job of dealing with music (but an abominable job of dealing with photos as it converts them into a standard format which is roughly 640KB in size per photo, regardless of the size of the original photo).

iTunes isn't perfect but does a damn good job of handling a music collection.

Welcome to the apple ghetto

I tried one programme with itouch, CopyTrans, I think. I do not know if it works with the latest firmware, though. Unlike itunes it's bidirectional.

You could manage the apps from the device itself, but I went back to itunes too for the same reason, before I chucked the itouch completely. There will be one happy child of my brother, soon
