Here we go again then, with a spanking brand new game of Survivor. As stated in the title this one revolves around the enemies & adversaries featured in the Tom Baker episodes.


Votes should be based on what sort of effect / impact you feel the character / group / race had on the story of the episode(s) in question. It's not about the best design, how scary they were or what you felt about the story as a whole.


Prediction Game One

You can, if you wish, take part in one of both of the Prediction games. Simply cast your eye over the 50 characters listed below & select which ones you think will make it into the Top Ten of this game. Once you have made your selection send send it to me via PM. DO NOT POST YOUR PREDICTIONS ON THIS THREAD!!!!

I'll be posting a Prediction Leaderboard at the end of each round so you'll be able to see how well you are doing with your Top Ten Predictions compared to other posters, although, obviously, they won't know which characters you've predicted for the Top Ten and you won't know what they've picked either. Predictions for the Top Ten will only be accepted in this first round, so get them in now!

Remember that you're choosing which characters you think the group as a whole will send through. These may not necessarily be the same as the ones you'd like to see in the Top Ten!


Prediction Game Two

As with the first Prediction game entries for this should be sent via PM.

All you need to do is work out which character or grouping will Survive the longest in each of the 8 groupings listed below. Once you've finished you should have one name for the Recurring Characters and one name each for Seasons 12 - 18. Once again, try and work out what you think the group as a whole will like rather than what your personal preference is.



"Auto"

You can now send your votes into the following round automatically. Just type "auto" with your choices & your choices will automatically be carried forward into the following round(s). So, if all of your choices are intact at the end of Round One they will all automatically be registered for Round Two (& all other subsequent rounds until they are voted out). However, if one are your choices is evicted the remaining three will automatically roll forward into Round Two, leaving you to pick another three characters.

I've got a question : how do we do when we haven't seen some episodes ?
There are 24 episodes I haven't watched yet
Sometimes I know about the characters, some I don't I can check on Tardis Wikia, but that won't replace the fact I haven't seen them on screen and I'd hate voting for a character I might like when I've seen him on screen.

Always a tricky question, Solamenn. I'd recommend just voting for the characters you know.

It'll be interesting to see if the "not available on DVD" characters gett he chop first. That's how it was with the Classic Companions game: the "missing episodes" companions were the first out because relatively few of us have ever seen them. Poor old Katarina....

These characters made absolutely no impact on me.

Soldeed did, but in a sort of John and Edward type way. So he makes it through to the next round for me anyway.....

Thanks for starting this thread by the way.

I think that's down to personal preference. Verence hadn't seen Children Of Earth and consequently voted for a number of characters from that in the Torchwood survivor before some other people did. And that's fine if you want to do it.

Or, you could do as Chuff suggests and restrict yourself to voting on characters that you know.

Whatever you decide is fine. There's no rule stating that you can't vote out characters you don't know.

Looks like it's going to be a great game - so many good (or bad) people to vote for!

But is this your first mistake?
Muttley's video has the Krynoids from Seeds of Doom but they're not on the list? And I thought they were pretty cool...

Not that it's my list but I'd also have argued that the Robot (k2)from Robot and the Robots from Robots of Death should have figured separately?
Not that I'm obsessed with robots!

Just done my predictions. I think that's been the hardest ones so far! It's hard enough to pick my own 10 let alone what I think everyone else will! Some baddies are just great visual monster concepts, others are great performances - how on earth do you pick sometimes!? I can see a lot of friendly arguments ahead!

The more I thought about it, there's tricky choices to be made for who is the baddie with the most impact in a story. I found the mummies and other posessed characters more scary in Pyramids of Mars. Ditto the Rutan itself is a bit pants but the humans affected by it and the truly scary ones. So an all time classic like Fang Rock might not do so well in this game...
All very interesting!

Male Eldrad was actually in the original starting list but when I sent to list to Muttley to do the video she had some comments and suggestions.

Some of them I took on board and some of them I didn't so the list got amended a bit and male Eldard bit the dust!

As it stands currently Eldrad covers both the male and female incarnations of the character.

Drat ! I hate male Eldrad but I love female Eldrad... How am I going to vote for him/her ?

I think I'm going to sit this one out until the field narrows down a bit, as there are too many characters that I don't know.

I will be watching with interest though.

It won't be quite as simple for me this time as out of all Tom's stories the only ones I've never seen are The Invisible Enemy, The Creature From The Pit and Nightmare Of Eden.

It's a shame there wasn't a place in the list for David Schofield's fine scenery-chewing performance as Neeva in The Face Of Evil

Presumably over time we will be doing similar games for each of the old Doctors??

Personally speaking I love a good scenery-chewing perfomance which is why I can't see myself voting out Soldeed for a quite a while

I'm the same, he's so OTT that he's far more memorable than some here who I had to used Muttley's video to jog my memory!
