I don't think Sophie will be in the bottom two again, but I think Jenny may be.

It's hard to call it because I think a lot of it depends on their VTs (unfortunately) and their song/performance on the night!

Of the three,in my view,Danielle lacks empathy.She has an unquestionable film noir type elegance,but as others have pointed out she also fails to communicate a sense of the extrovert and the innocent.In this sense she is to banal for the role of Dorothy.
Her sing off with Dani was expressionless and matter of fact.She became invisible against the emotive outpourings of Dani.She was the assured pair of hands.I think Emilie was right when she said ALW wanted a modern edgy Dorothy.You just can't se Danielle being able to lighten up.When she has to be light hearted and fun loving,it comes across rather forced and uncomfortable.
And if all that was'nt enough I think her legs are slightly chunky.
She is still bloody talented mind,but I don't see her as Dorothy.

although i'd be sad to see jessica go... in a way. Unless she changes the whole way in which she performs, then I'm not interested.

I disagree with this. I think she would do innocence beautifully. Probably better than any of the others. And I don't think Dorothy is necessarily an extrovert. I think, like Shelia says, Danielle's dorothy would be quite old fashioned and grave. But I think that would be very nice for the role. It would be quite different to how it is usually played.

If Stephanie or Jess won the part, they would play Dorothy as more extroverted and high spirited. Which could work too, but I think that would be a more traditional interpretation of the part.

I was very disappointed with Danielle's sing off I have to admit. I can only conclude that she was devastated and couldn't step up to the challenge. She'll have to fight if she's in a sing off again - she won't get away with that twice.

They are the two best ones in it. Why would you want to lose one of them this early

I definitely agree about the innocence thing. To me, Danielle projects inncocence more than any of the others, with Sophie being the only other one I ever get that vibe from.

I really think she was just too stunned in the sing-off, but I do think she started fighting at the end. I agree that if she's ever there again (and I hope she isn't), she should really try to give it her all.

Still, I think a great performance of a different type of song from her might go a long way toward getting the attention of the more neutral voters, and convince them she's a contender. That's true for all of the contestants at this stage, but I think it would especially help Danielle. If she can portray different qualities in a song (which I have seen in the group numbers, but I guess some people haven't), it will only help her, I think.

I think with as crazy as the voting has been, the best thing any of the girls can do is turn in a great performance on Saturday. That will draw not only their fanbases, but more neutral voters as well. I think at this point that anyone who has an off-week will be in danger, so they all need to dazzle this week.

I think it is amazing how Danielle divides opinion. Even on DS - just look at the length of her appreciation thread versus any of the others.
& bearing in mind the topic of this thread - I just hope she keeps out of the bottom 2 & agree that, in the unlikely event she is in it, she needs to be much better in the sing off than last time.

Jessica and Jenny

On May 8th there is a double elimination, the first is leaving on Saturday night and the second on Sunday. The saturday episode is extended to 90 minutes.

In all honesty it depends on the song choices, I think the song Sophie sang on Saturday was partly why she ended in the bottom 2, similar to the track that put Bronte in the bottom 2, not the kind of song that show's off your vocals.

Lauren needs to be tested soon with a more upbeat song, the most upbeat she has had so far is I'll Never Fall In Love Again, so if she can't pull of uptempo she could be a goner

What about Sway? She did a pretty decent singing job and routine with that.

Depends probably almost entirely on who gets what song and the VT and comments. Running order may matter too depending on whats on elsewhere.

There's no sign that Jessica is losing support or Stephanie. They might need a really bad song or Gordon Brown size gaffe to become at risk. Steph may have made herself safe too . Jenny with a good song could stay safe but will they give her one? Her base needs to over vote as they seem to be trying to remove her.

Lauren I can't see much evidence of renewed support for - she may have jumped over Jenny with better songs and comments but I would think thats reversable if who gets the best song changes.

There's no evidence Danielle has moved from one extreme to the other - she may need a good song too though last weeks "could be in the last 2 " should mobilise her fans.

Sophie looks vulnerable.

If it wasn't more decided by whoever allocates the songs, who can cope best with a big band song would be an interesting question.

It might be good for the role on TV or film but would anyone go to a theatre to watch someone being introverted? What does introverted and innocent look like from row XX in the Palladium? Danielle's great merit is that she looks right for the first few scenes but she needs to wake em up and grab them and keep them interested too.Its about time they gave her a chance to show she can do that.

I think it's all conjecture at this point. This time last week, there was no sign that Sophie was losing support either, and a lot of people were still saying Emilie just might win. Sophie also had the largest Facebook group by far, and a really good showing last week. I think with the way the voting is going, it's too close to try to say who is definitely safe and who isn't.

We know that Stephanie, Jessica and Jenny haven't been in the bottom two yet, but what we don't know is exactly how well they are doing in the voting week-by-week. Stephanie's support online, particularly, appears to be somewhat confusing. She never leads the polls on here, for instance, and a lot of people seem to intellectually think she's good but I don't see a lot of people who are really excited about her. There are some, but not as many as there are for some of the others (including Sophie, who was bottom 2 this past week). Jessica is confusing because, like Sophie, she's had a bunch of weird songs but still seems to be getting votes. Still, I won't rule out her being in the bottom two next week, like Sophie was this past week. Also, Jenny does seem to be losing support with the judges, and I don't see too many people online gushing about her either. We've had a different bottom two every week so far, so I really don't think anyone is that safe.

I think the key to staying in the competition at this point is performance on the night, and also a little bit of stirring up of fanbases. I think Danielle's and Sophie's bases have been energized, and Steph's seems to be up there as well, but I'm not as sure about Stephanie's, Jenny's, Lauren's or Jessica's.

Fanbases are only part of it, though. I think the majority of voters are more neutral and vote based on performance on the night, so the girls really need to bring their best this week so they can get the interest of those more casual voters. The best thing any of them can do now is just perform their songs well and hope for good comments from the judges. I think the voting is too strange to accurately predict. We can try to make guesses based on various factors, but it's hardly a sure thing at this point.

It could be very even or it could be more like what you tend to find in reality TV shows which is that some people are way ahead and the the majority are scrabbling for crumbs - often for no obvious reason - or as you say there's not many people voting and a fan base matters. There again there's Leon on X factor and Jenny is a lot better singer than Leon..... . Strangely it might be better if people were voting for what they had seen of people at their best rather than on song of the week if the song of the week was selected to make them look less good.

Perhaps us Jenny fans just aren't given to gushing?

I don't know - we haven't been very good at precicting so far. There are too many unknowns; the song choice and performance on the night can make a big difference.

My prediction just now though would be Jessica (she's had some pretty weak performances) and (but hopefully not!!!) Jenny.

^I think that's the best logical guess as well, but logic hasn't really had much to do with how the results have gone so far.

This may be a crackpot theory, but I still keep thinking that Stephanie may be in more danger than we realize. The reason I think this is that, from all the things I have read online, she seems to be thought of right now as kind of a "default winner"--basically, the one everyone expects to win but aren't necessarily crazy about. I know of very few people who are really excited about Stephanie, although an increasing majority seem to think she's going to win. Everyone seems to agree that she's good, and that she's been consistent, but I don't think she's had a really "wow" moment yet. She's just sung really well but not really made a big connection with a large enough group of people to have as solid a fanbase of some of the others, even some who have been in the bottom two like Danielle, Steph, and Sophie. It's like people expect Stephanie to win right now, but they don't necessarily want her to.

I know this is a generalization, and there are a few passionate Stephanie fans out there, but I just don't see as many as I see for several of the others. The casual voters vote for her because she's consistent and sort of fits the part, but I'm really wondering if she has that solid of a core fanbase. I am thinking that if, this weekend, Stephanie just goes out there and does the same old Stephanie thing--singing very well but not really having a special moment--and someone else who has been in the bottom two but seems to have a stronger core fanbase (like Danielle and/or Sophie) really sells her song and does wow the audience, then they will pick up casual voters and Stephanie will lose them. Combine that with the (seemingly) smaller core fanbase and the fact that everyone just assumes she's going to be safe at this point, and Stephanie could just end up in the bottom two.

I know it might sound crazy, but I'm really wondering now just how safe Stephanie is.

It'll be astonsihing if Sophie goes out and really sells her song this weekend - I really haven't seen anything to sugest that she can.

Also not convinced that danielle can either

To be honest I don't see many people selling their performances - Steph I think does so, and to be honest Stephanie does as well. The others, not so much.

If this weeks bottom two is (God forbid) Jessica and Danielle, who would ALW save do you think?

As pointed out on one of the threads yesterday, he did make the 'paint the road ruby' comment to Danielle, and called Jess 'world class' last week.

As the poster who did the BS write-up of last weeks show said, Jess' facial expressions, whilst a touch OTT on screen are essential for those sat in the audience. Danielle is so fabulously subtle. Does he REALLY still want an Amy Winehouse Dorothy I wonder, or is he regretting saying that?

ALW said Jess was "potentially" a world class performer.... which to me means "You're not ready yet!"

In A Jessica/ Danielle sing off he'd save Danielle without a doubt!

I think it very much depends on the nights performances and sing off songs but i reckon he would save danielle as the safer choice/more equipped for the role, and agree that his world class comments for jess are just a generalization of how good she is/could be but does not mean he thinks she is definatly suited for the role,

but if jess was against , jenny,steph, or sophie id fancy her chances (i hope)

Steph could be in the bottom two if her performance is forgettable as I don't think many class her as their ultimate favourite.

Sophie's got a slight chance of being in the bottom two again but I think she'll get the rebound vote.

However, I'm going to predict Danielle and Lauren in the bottom two this week.
