Reviving a stale scone
After a couple of days your average supermarket scone is going stale and is not exactly the most attractive food in the kitchen. I normally follow what I assume is the well-known method of giving it a quick blast in the microwave. It may not be as good as when the packet was opened, but at least it's not like chewing a piece of cardboard.
I normally slice it before microwaving it, but I've never bothered trying to find out if it would be better to leave it unsliced. I've always assumed that the improvement is due to steam produced inside the scone whilst in the oven. |
