What % of your annual income does your cat cost?
Deaf Leppard

For snacks, vet bills and food, along with toys?

I hate cats, they are like vermin, they always look shifty, as if they are up to no good.

We have three cats and they don't half eat a lot of cat food, they only like the best. Turn their noses up and walk away in a huff if you try giving them the cheap stuff.

Just to add, we wouldn't be without them, they give us a lot of pleasure and affection, each has their own special character.

Not too much at all. Shop wisely, insure them, treat them well. I'd rather have kitty love in my life than be mega-rich anyway.

I have a diabetic cat and a cat with FIV so vet bills alone can get pretty expensive. I have a savings account for that though since we couldn't insure FIV cat and the premiums got ridiculous for diabetic cat, after he had repeated bouts of cystitis. I just pay in what I can afford each month and *touch wood* I've always had plenty to cover any vet bills and emergencies.

Zero cost. I don't have a cat.

Initial costs:
Vets bills £200 aprox (thus far) she has had her injections / booster / been spayed and microchipped.
Litter tray, bed, toys, scratching post, brush, food & water bowl aprox £75

Ongoing costs
Litter £4 per week (£208 per annum)
Food £5 per week (£260 per annum)

Various treats not included

She is cheap as chips really but I'd pay a lot more if I had too!!!

It's her 2nd Birthday tomorrow

Cat's eat mice and as far as I am concerned that's a good thing, especially living where I do.

They are up to no good, that's why we love 'em.

Pointless reply of the week award goes to...

Not sure exactly how much ours costs but as he's getting on a bit now we have a litter tray down permanently and he's a greedy bugger so probably more than I would like to guess. Worth it though

Food - about £6 a week
Litter - about £3 a week
Insurance - £3 a week
Toys - she doesn't do toys (though she does like to chase a rolled up piece of paper around)
Snacks - doesn't have them either

If you hate cats though why do you care what people spend on them?

Well, it was my little princesses 1st birthday yesterday (well, the date we approximated as she's a rescue cat )! Since adopting her last year I think I've spent around £200 on vet's bills, but that was largely one-off - first vaccinations, spay and antibiotics for a little infection she had.

Week to week, I probably spend about £10-£15 a week on her. She likes the Felix 'as good as it looks', Whiskas dry biscuits and clumping litter. And then there's her treats as well, she has two Webbox sticks every day and a bottle of cat milk at the weekend. She likes licking my yoghurt pot lid too, but I don't include that in the cost

So yeah, she doesn't cost a massive amount to keep fed and watered at all, and I'd hope that all the cuddles I get means she's as happy as Larry
