Greedy, spoilt cat!

Bob has a good selection of food, wet and dry - dentabits for his teeth, treats, and so on.

He's about 8 months old and getting bigger by the day, does that explain his sheer greed of late? He even got the fish food open and was chowing down on that too!

Some kittens are eating machines, and obviously they are growing so they need plenty of fuel. But if you think he is gaining too much weight you should take him to the vet for a once-over and feeding advice. I assume he's neutered?

My most recent kitten was definitely an eating machine. The vet weighed him at 5 months, and then again a couple of weeks later, and he had put on a kilo He said if he carried on like that he would be diabetic by the time he was a year old, told me to stop using kitten food and go onto adult, and try to rein in the amount he got - every time I walked into the kitchen he was there yelling for food. (Fortunately when he was a year old something seemed to click in his brain, and his appetite diminished so he's quite a slim cat.)

You really don't want to have to deal with problems that come with overweight cats, so if he is hefty, you need to nip it in the bud!

He's neutered. Always been a narrow and long kitten, looks very healthy. Think it's just sheer greed but if he does get fat I'll take him to the vet, thanks.

I have 5 all 8 months old and they can eat for england. They absolutely love food. My neighbour also has a cat that tries to eat the fish food as well. My kittens mum is pettish and the dad's is huge. I spoke too the dads owner yesterday and the dad is exactly the same and eats anything as well. wonder could it be genetic

Have you asked the vet OP??? I mean it may just be his age.... Unless he begins to look a lot heavier maybe he is burning off all the extra food.

My vet told me to feed my younger cat Billy as much as he wanted (within reason) up until he was 1yr old. apparently this is because of the growth spurts and needing more energy.
now Billy has just turned 1 and has a rather big bum lol.
so now I will start to cut his food down abit.

my 2 kittens used to eat like it was their last meal every time i fed them, but as they grew up they started to eat a lot less and were on the whole a lot less greedy and moany about food.

I used to think my cats were the greediest cats on earth. No matter how much food I put out for them, whenever I next went into my kitchen the bowls were empty, almost licked clean! I though it was strange because my cats never used to empty a bowl. They have a thing about always leaving some in the bowl.
Turned out I was feeding half the cats in the neighbourhood. They were sneaking in through the cat flap and helping themselves.
