Latest tweet from @RhydianMusic:-

“Day 7 in Glasgow. Rehearsals have been fun. Dance moves are coming along nicely. Y'day had night out Scottish style! Loved it! Bed at 7am!!”

Looks like the rehearsals for We Will Rock You are going well.

Sorry for my recent absence, must do better

S4C have confirmed Rhydian's own series will begin in the autumn of this year. I'm sure he'll be a great TV host, really looking forward to it and seeing who his guests are and what they'll sing with him.

Great pic of Rhyd in the geeky specs posted by Conehead on their twitter yesterday

I have to say I really like the look on Rhyd ( and the rest of him is looking good too ) but I know that the Joe 90 look is not to everyone's taste

Another tweet from Rhyd tonight:

Quote:
“I spent today with my stylist about the new look. Can't wait for you to see it. I have a crazy week coming up!!”

Hmmm...specs or no specs?!

I have O Fortuna
Listened to Myfanwy, it is quite sad Rhydian and Bryn are very good. However, Rhyd doesn't need the flippin' Male Voice Choir IMO And why is the last line repeated so often?

Sorry I'm late but happy birthday Rhyd
I've listened to a bit of O Fortuna - while Rhydian's voice is fab I dont think the true nature of Rhydian as live performer comes across in the CD - he isnt given enough rein to show his theatrical side as the epic O Fortuna suggests (which is excellent BTW), and on some songs there are too many bl**dy choirs (sorry!), as moving as the Welsh folk tune Myfanwy is, even Annie's Song. The Welsh anthem is very stirring.

Bit more news on his TV series here, Avanti are the production company and this is sounding very promising

I like the bit about the Vegas-like stage very much

Rhyd is being honoured by Birmingham Conservatoire on Monday as an Alumnus of the Year.

Julie Walters is also receiving an honour at the same ceremony!

Congratulations Rhydian

And it isn't long until Friday and Rhyd's concert in Oxford

Will Rhyd be singing too I wonder?
Sweet C and Rattie what do you think of OF? IMO its a shame the album doesnt live to the promise, feel wise, of the opening track - seems Rhydian has been put in a box marked "Classical Crossover/Welsh" for the CD, not that theres anything wrong with that, but he has a more vibrant side and the overuse of choirs is annoying, but he can really sing with feeling
Rhydian performing OF on XF would have been epic

Hi grim

I have to agree with your assessment of OF. Rhyd sings wonderfully as ever but personally I find some of the songs a bit underwhelming and the use of choirs on every track slightly annoying.
I love the track OF, Annie's song is just lovely - but why the choir???, and both Benedictus and Ave Verum have grown on me. I think it was a lazy choice of album by Syco/Sony and I have high hopes for album three as I think that Conehead are a totally different proposition

I'm thinking of writing a review of OF.
Looking through the track listing though, some sound epic and stirring - for example isnt Conquest of Paradise the theme from Gladiator?
The Welsh anthem is well sung and moving

Fabulous site SC

I like the write up which mentions his time with Sony being a 'classical crossover' style which is now being changed so he can be much more the artist he wants to be.
Shame Sony had such a lack of imagination but there you go

I just hope he can catch the public's imagination again and get some good promotion and a sound the radio stations will be keen to play
