Favourite three pieces of Dr Who music
Don't know if this has been done before but NOT counting any version of the theme, what are your three favourite pieces of music from Dr Who ?
Mine are 1) All the strange strange creatures (first track on CD No 2) 2) Doomsday 3) The Doctor for ever |

Abide with me (Series three, episode two)
Life amongst the distant stars (series 4) Doomsday well, those are the most played Dr Who tracks on my itunes. Edited to add:I'm sorry to nitpick, but its called "all the strange creatures" on my CD/Itunes download. I thought it was all the strange strange creatures too. |

The music that's played as Doc Ten "gets his reward" and goes round seeing his companions for the last time - can anyone tell me what this is called and where I can get it from?

It always upsets me when people complain about the music in DW when they really mean to fault the sound mixing. As a big fan of film & TV scores, I just love the stuff Murray Gold does for DW. Doctor Who's special effects may not be in the same league as a Hollywood blockbuster (what? Am I wrong?), but very few Hollywood productions have the quality and variety of music DW does, even with a vastly bigger budget. Well done, Murray!
Hmmm. Hard to choose my 3 favorites. Off the top of my head... Westminster Bridge -- I Saw Her Standing There meets James Bond. Very 1963. The Lone Dalek -- Real cinema music. Very moving. Rose's Theme -- No matter how annoying Rose got toward the end, her theme always sounds great. The Doctor's Theme -- Simple. Effective. Spine-tingling. Memorable. Doomsday -- Another creatively spare arrangement. The Doctor meets Nirvana. Song of Freedom, obviously. Special mention: nice arrangement & vocals for Abide With Me, which provided the best moment in Gridlock |
