Is anyone else other than me having trouble reading threads where episodes are refered to by acronym only?

Some I get - TEH is unambiguous, but VotD isn't helpful, but as you go further back in time, PotW, TLE, 42 (OK, maybe not that one), AoL, they become more difficult to decypher.

It means I have to re-read the thread a half dozen times to work out what's being said. Yes, I could have a list of acronyms beside the monitor, but isn't that a bit silly?

PLEASE can we have at least an abbreviated version of titles when discussing episodes in threads?

Yeah, it would be better that way.

Well we're not all experts on acronyms! I have a hard time decifering it too. I get it if you're talking about one specific episode, like in the episode threads for instance, but when people talk about old episodes (like series 1,2,3) then it gets confusing.

We're not all Dr Who boffins

I completely agree.

It does get confusing when someone starts talking about Peter Davison's B.O. or Patrick Troughton's WiS.

and then people call Tom Baker's The S.o.D. when they mean Patrick Troughton's The S.o.D., and you can get banned for that.

I got confused when I opened this thread because acronyms are abbreviations that in themselves form a word. So I thought you were discussing things like MYTH, and what, if it were an abbreviation, those initials might stand for.

But I agree it would be helpful to know what all the abbreviations for episode titles are.

Please note that I have, for my own purposes of clarity expanded the two instances of duplicated abbreviations slightly.

Why do people use the full titles when referring to classic and abbreviations when referring to the newer stuff?

Not too sure Tony, but it may be that there are more people on the board who are familiar with the newer stuff than the old? Personally I think the full titles should be used consistently, as it both eliminates any confusion and accords the story a bit more "dignity" (which I am probably misusing in this context )

Can you imagine the BBC saying:

And next - Shakespeare's TTOTS?

Thinking about it, it could cause confusion with the Dalek stories, anyway. Which one would ROTD refer to?

Ah, it's an elitist thing! With you all the way in that case-VOTD and VOTD can languish in misery trying to work out their identity issues while Resurrection, Revelation and Remembrance of the Daleks bask in the glory of their full titles!
