Ah, it's an elitist thing! With you all the way in that case-VOTD and VOTD can languish in misery trying to work out their identity issues while Resurrection, Revelation and Remembrance of the Daleks bask in the glory of their full titles!
No no no no!!!! Not SUPPOSED to be elitist. (maybe just a happy coincidence) Just that as the current stories are so often referred to, it is more common to abbreviate them.

Shakespeare's TTOTS? Ah, The Taming Of The Shrew! Took me a while.

Not to be confused, of course, with Shakespeare's Tea Tots, a sort of Elizabethan Teletubbies.

Shh, Shakespearian scholars don't like it when you bring up his brief career as the owner/manager of the Spearmint Wildboar club chain...

I covered up the titles and tried to guess what the acronym was trying to say. I say I only got about 20% of them - mostly series 4 and 5 ones and ones like L&M as they have the & in.

I think I'll probably bookmark the page as well! lol

I thought I'd try the same approach with some classic stories after all, but oddly enough DW&TS and TMOSBE don't seem to trip so easily off the tongue. And calling a perfectly decent William Hartnell story ROT just seems wrong...

I'd rather use episode anagrams, similar to Shakespeare's The Mating of the Wersh.

The Ned of Mite
The Coinrun and the Swap
Runt Felt
The Santa Tip
Dab Flow
Dockgirl
Shelf and Notes
The Prating of the Sway
The Rawest of Rams
The Bates Bowel

and so on.

The last two just sound uncomfortable!

I was debating the other day if B was a better episode than M, I love SS in B but M is just so intense with DT, despite the lack of CT. I also love LC as an actress, but her character was a bit of a cow and buggered off back to EE. Then I watched G and realised that it's a decent episode, almost as good as the opening sequence of U. Then we have R, which is just worse than watching paint dry.

I like acronyms but sometimes it takes me a while to figure out what they are. It took me a while to realise was TEH was - I just assumed someone was emphasising 'the' and misspelt it.

LMAO. Pete you take the biscuit.

(Just remember to hold it at arms length and look confident.)

Acronyms and name shortening in any way can be distressing for some. Just ask Pete Doherty, he's been panicking since Susan Boyle appeared on the scene!

Is anyone else other than me having trouble reading threads where episodes are refered to by acronym only?
No, I haven't had any trouble of any kind with acronyms!
The initialisms, on the other hand, can be a bit troublesome.

I very rarely remember the episode titles, let alone the acronyms! I always think of them as 'the one with the gas mask/Agatha Christie/Pompeii/Shakespeare/that ridiculous Peter Key blobby thing/the double decker bus. I'd say the only ones that I'd immediately think of by their title are maybe Blink and Dalek, maybe also Midnight. It's odd, it's not as if I haven't watched the episodes a million times.

I think it's an excellent idea, an accronym dictionary. or is that an "AD"

in fact I will start - for example new series one episode 1 rose WILL be

ns1,ep1,R

EDIT - darn it, the chap above posted before me with a much better list for the new episodes, but what about the old episodes?
Hahaha. One word titles can't be abbreviated can they?... however much we may try.

How about we shorten the title - Logopolis can be just Log, Castrovalva can be... Castro?

And if you're talking about more than one episode, save time by putting the episode titles together, like "Castrogopolis" Or "The Unicorn and the Silence in the Library" "or Tooth and Fireplace"
