As always the scary thing is where has the time gone?
I will admit to being a bit of a Spice Girls fan at first although after the first album I wasn't interested. I was definitely more of an All Saints fan.

Bentley Rhythm Ace - Bentley's Gonna Sort You Out
De La Soul & Zhane - 4 More
Lighthouse Family - Raincloud
Republica - Drop Dead Gorgeous
Smash Mouth - Walking On The Sun
Sash! - Encore Une Fois
All Saints - I Know Where It's At
Smoke City - Underwater Love (the Levi's advert that this was used on is one of my all-time favourite ads too)
Supergrass - Sun Hits The Sky
Fun Lovin' Criminals - Scooby Snacks
James - She's A Star
Placebo - Nancy Boy
Blur - Song 2
George Michael - I Can't Make You Love Me
The Supernaturals - Smile
The Levellers - What A Beautiful Day
Todd Terry Feat Jocelyn Brown/Martha Wash - Something Goin' On
Rosie Gaines - Closer Than Close
Tina Moore - Never Gonna Let You Go
Tori Amos - Professional Widow
Third Eye Blind - Semi-Charmed Life
Jamiroquai - Alright
No Doubt - Just A Girl
White Town - Your Woman (excellent video too)
No Mercy - Where Do You Go?
Olive - You're Not Alone
Dario G - Sunchyme
Chumbawamba - Tubthumping

Katrina and the Waves - Love Shine a Light
Texas - Say What You Want

Prodigy - Firestarter
Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
Green Day - Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)

Cornershop - Brimful of Asha - Knew of the song when I was younger, don't know what age though.

No Doubt - Don't Speak
Hanson - Mmmbop
Spice Girls - Who Do You Think You Are?
Kula Shaker - Hush

There was a dance/trance song I really liked from this year but don't know the artist.

There weren't a great deal of vocals on the track but it was sung by a bloke and it started "I'm falling........I'm falling...."

Don't suppose anyone can help?!

This was a cover version of Randy Crawford's hit from 1981. Coincidentally, 1981 and 1997 were my favourite years of those decades musically! I'd say I liked 2005 best from the last decade by the way.

That song reminds me off fat Prescott dancing like a loon after the election. Funny thing is the keyboard player Brian Cox is now a scientist and is supporting the Lib Dems. Hence the song was an wrong

I think the Divene Comedy were one of the most fun bands of the 1990s ... and I just watched the video to their new single ... and was pleased to see they have a new album in the offing ... bring back the indie disco!

I suddenly realise nobody has profiled 1997 recently. I often think of it as the year the music went mad. We had a new no 1 best-selling single of all-time, and 8 million-sellers released, an all-time high. Not many of these were credible but never mind!

I also had a new no 1 fave song of the Decade, and no fewer than 13 songs from 1997 went on to my top 40 of the Decade!

Anyway, my nos 14-20 of 1997 would have included:

Whitetown:- Your Woman
Reef:- Come Back Brighter
Sheryl Crow:- A Change Would Do You Good
Kylie Minogue:- Some Kinda Bliss
Chumbawumba:- Tubthumping
Louise:- Arms Around the World
Levellers:- Dog House

Nos 12/13:

Eels:- Novocaine for the Soul
All Saints:- I Know Where It's At

No 11: Radiohead:- Karma Police

Nos 6-10:

No Doubt:- Don't Speak
Monaco:- What Do You Want from Me?
U2:- Staring at the Sun
Third Eye Blind:- Semi-Charmed Life
Jimmy Ray:- Are You Jimmy Ray

Nos 4/5:

Sash:- Stay
Various Artists:- Perfect Day

Top 3:

3 Kula Shaker:- Hush
2 Spice Girls:- Who Do You Think You Are?
1 Natalie Imbruglia:- Torn

Another incredible year for Britpop. Oasis released Be Here Now, an album I still rate, and my other favourite band Space released 'Avenging Angels'.

And from my hometown of Derby, White Town's 'Your Woman' spent a week at No. 1.
