Philips Dvdr70 Problem

i have purchased a dvdr70 and am having trouble. i can't get it to detect blank discs (both dvdr and cdr) i have updated to the latest firmware. if i burn the dvdr using my pc dvdrw drive then it detects the dvd. i tried two type of dvdr ( bulkpaq and vivastar) has anyone got any ideas

also what make of media is best and where can get it?

Don't understand why you are trying CDR as it won't write to them.

Are you using DVD+R's?

Mine works fine with TDK (Richer Sounds) and Imation (E-Buyer) DVD+RW's have not tried DVD+R's yet.

whats the difference?
should these work? has anyone got then to work?

No they won't work, it's DVD+R and +RW machine. It will play -R and
-RW (finalised) but not record on them! Check the OM page 5.

bloke in shop sold me em he is getting them back

is there a certain speed i should use?

nope, wont make any difference just stick to 1speed. I use philips branded ones, dont use cheaper data only discs as they might cause issues i invested in a 5 pack of philips DVD+RW discs for £20 (or something) and i probably wont need to buy any more again
