And yes, that's something I think a lot of people are missing, the Doctor's reaction was definitely that of a man a) who wasn't interested (BARROWMAN! *fist shake*) and b) had suddenly worked out he was kinda overlooking something about humans again and set off to sort it out ASA-bloody-P. It's addressing an obvious situation and lets Moffat deal and move on while delivering a funny scene, a good bit of motivation to keep the story moving after finding out about the crack in the first third (ish) of the series AND delivers a good bit of fan service at the same time. Well played sir, well played.
