What does Russell think?
Well RTD said he was really looking forwards to watch DW as a fan again.
So what does the previous show runner think of S5 so far? Personally I think he is enjoying it. |

![]() You really cannot stop yourself being bitter over the fact that RTD'S tenure was such a success can you tingy? May I remind you that without RTD, SM would never have written his episodes in Series 1-4 and would not be executive producer and Head Writer now...so just give yourself a break, take a breath and try thinking about your slightly silly posts...after all, as I say above...RTD will be remembered long after this age of DW is cancelled...you, on the other hand, will not be. |

He probably loves it - He's a massive doctor who fan and a huge Stephen Moffat fan. Also, it must be great to be able to watch the series and not know exactly what's going to happen.

He probably loves Moffat's series as much as Moffat loved Davies' series - a guess would say a lot.

I hope Russell will write some more episodes in the coming years; I'd love to see him writing for Amy, Eleven and River. I'm really looking forward to his episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures featuring Matt!

I think they are both fantastic writers and both excel producing Doctor Who. One thing I'd like to find out is which of them first thought of the character of Captain Jack. I've always thought he was a Russell creation but of course his first on screen appearance was in The Empty Child.

Let's just put this in a fair perspective. I enjoyed a lot of RTD's work on the show. he wrote some good stories, he was the man who brought the series back. We shouldn't forget what he done for the show, we do have to move on, but the Op did ask a reasonable question,. So is answer the question, I think he'll be liking this series in the same way as David Tennant probably is.

As much as I loved the RTD era, deeply, I'd have to agree.

There's a line of hypocrites forming...I'm surprised that you are one
![]() Maybe I'm just a bit excited with the new series, but I do feel that overall it's just that bit 'better'. It's not an easy thing to say, but I'm really feeling something a lot more Who-ey with the series so far, which is what makes it a bit better imho. Maybe I'll look on it differently over time. We'll see. One thing's for sure. Either way, it's really quite brilliant.

Yes, I remember all those times Sarah-Jane jumped on a bed, spread her legs and asked the Doctor to "sort her out"...

I presume Davies is watching DW and enjoying it.
Much as I admire her as a DW producer, I did get somewhat annoyed that Verity Lambert was always making digs at the Letts era, especially that her complaint that Pertwee was "part of the establishment" didn't add up (why was the Third Doctor always arguing with politicians, military brass and businessmen then? ). |

Right...so you've started a thread asking people what RTD thinks of the new series given the fact that they can't possibly know...care to explain your reasoning for bothering?

Hmmm - well, my admiration of the Moffatmaster is unlimited but I'm still underwhelmed by this series. I like the casting of the Dr and Amy but the episodes so far have been lacking something and this two-parter was probably Moffat's weakest ever.

I really love the new series, and I think Matt's casting was a superb idea. However, I also loved the last 4 years and I don't really know or care who wrote what. As long as I have Dr Who to look forward to every Saturday, I can live with the occasional rubbish episode. I will only complain when they cancel it again
![]() .PS: I honestly think that RTD is enjoying it. |
