As much as I loved the RTD era, deeply, I'd have to agree.

RTD may not be directly involved in Doctor Who anymore, but he is still the Executive Producer of two of the three Whoniverse shows. I find it bizarre how some fans don't understand that RTD and SM have been working together for years and will continue to work together on future projects.

It is only the internet that likes to believe there is some huge RTD/Moffat divide. Moffat rates RTD as his favourite writer and RTD obviously does the same for Moffat having reached out to him to not only write scripts for his series but carry on the reinvented series as he established it. Still, I bet RTD is loving this series. I imagine in the US he was able to shut himself off from all spoilers and is finally able to "just" be a fan again. ORRR...he's already had the tapes sped to him across the pond and he's ahead of us...

I don't know what RTD thinks. But I have a suggestion - why don't you go to the messageboard here and ask him.

Exactly. In fact, the only time he did anything so close to boasting about snogging was in 'The Girl in the Fireplace'.
"I'm the Doctor! And I just snogged Madame de Pompadour!!!" And we all know who wrote that ![]()

Playing Devils Advocate, I must mention that after being forcibly snogged by Cassandra in Rose's body, the 10th Doctor was heard to squeak "Yep, still got it" which COULD possibly be construed as a mild boast
![]() He even boasted about the fact that Martha fancied him to Donna, despite being glad that she doesn't....something has to fill that vanity But on a serious note he definitely didn't snog her back and then shout on top of the roof that he did like he did for Reinette.... Even with last night, despite pushing her away a few times, there is a moment when he gets a little lost in that kiss!!

I respectfully disagree. Parting of the Ways, Doomsday (not fussed on Last of the Timelords but Utopia was stunning) and Journey's End managed to run the entire gamut of emotions and are viewed as successful in domestic and foreign press reviews, but more importantly with myself and everyone I know. To say he made a pig's ear is factually incorrect.

RTD will be seen as just another Derek Sherwin - filling in a gap for a year or two.
That has to one of the most ridiculous, if not disrespectful, posts I've ever read on here. |

But Derek Sherwin has been largely eclipsed by later producers.
The same will undoubtedly happen with RTD. His era will be forgotten because it was followed by Moffats. |

The fact the Cyberking stomping all over Victorian London was referenced in the last ep perhaps means they were colluding on this plot even as far back as "The Next Doctor..." so yeah, obviously.

Certainly not! I don't think a sizable chunk of sixties Who has been 'eclipsed' by anything! Give me the Hartnell/ Troughton stuff over any of Pertwee (post1970) or a lot of what followed any day.

What I am saying is not a criticism of the 60s Who episodes but that Sherwin has been largely forgotten as a producer because 'bigger' names have followed him such as Hinchecliffe and JNT etc.

Even the great Verity Lambert is remembered mainly as the Producer who launched the show and went on to have several other successes. |

Possibly. It's hardly fair though, and certainly not true of anyone who's really watched and enjoyed the sixties stuff. Derrick was more than a place holder, he was a damn good producer and script editor.

The irony of these posts is staggering since the pair of you are the main people who keep reintroducing threads and discussions about the man, as well as being the two people that seem to be the ones keeping this very thread alive.
Maybe you should both take your own advice and move on. |
