I used to watch a US soap on Sky 1 called General Hospital, anyway a character called Anna Devane went out of it in 1991 or something but then the character returned in 2002, but in another soap, same actor, same character just a different location.

I thought it would be cool if some of the characters from axed soaps from old came into our current ones. I know Brookside had Jill Chance from Crossroads appear as 'Jill'.

Maybe Pat the Rat from Sons and Daughters could appear in Home and Away (the Alison version) or Beryl and her biscuits arrive to run the Diner.

How about Sue Ellen Ewing from Dallas turning up in Weatherfield or Mrs Mac from Take the High Road appearing in Emmerdale.

Just because some soaps end I dont see why we have to loose the characters we love too. I dont see why they cant go to other shows like they do in the States.

I am not a big Hollyoaks fan but I did see him in it one day and I wondered if it was the same character he was playing. Did he ever talk about the other members of the family or how he ended up in Chester?

If I remeber rightly, I may not - I normally see Hollyoaks through the mist of my Sunday morning hangover - he said something about the rest of the family returning to Ireland.

The farcical thing about that was around the time Matt switched soaps, Lewis died in Hollyoaks and pitched up as a new character in Brookside. So were the two soaps coexistant or not?

Well Hollyoaks and Brookside have very close ties, with Phil Redmond and all that. I also remember once when two Hollyoaks characters saw Jacqui Dixon and another Brookside character (maybe Nathan or Katie) on the Chester walls. It was really confusing because the Hollyoaks characters were acting as if they were normal people spotting celebrities from Brookside!
