s-video / scart
I have an ati radeon 9800xt with s-video out in my pc and id like to port t to my tv, if i went s-video to s-video does this carry the sound as well, also ive seen s-video to scart+sound plug is this better ? is it also possible to send it to a normal aerial socket as thats all I have on one of my older tellys in the bedroom.

S-video is a connection for video only that carrys the luminance signal (black and white picture) and chromanance signal (colour information added to make colour picture) between devices. You can connect to your TV by using a Scart adapter that has a S-video connector and separate audio phonos. Note: TV must be S-video compatible. Some TVs have multiple scarts, some support composite/RGB and others support composite/S-video. For audios, connect the phono sockets to the phono level output from your sound card. To connect to the aerial socket, you will need a RF modulator to convert the baseband video and audio to a radio signal. Phil |
