Or are you all used to it? Sometimes they make slight alterations to the tune etc, but this is the first time ever I think, that they have had a negative response to it so I wonder if they will listen to the fans and make any changes, or keep as is? For me, I quite like it, but there are too many sound effects within it like the lightning that distracts from the main tune... apart from that I like it now. |

I don't think there will be any major changes to the title sequence next series, no. It would be a waste of money that could be put to better use making the show.
At the end of the day, after some of the initial grumbling a lot of people seem to have come to like it from what I can see, in any case. |

They may just amend it slightly, to accommodate an additional cast credit (i.e. Rory, if he joins the Tardis crew full time).

There will always be people moaning when familiarity is changed. Listened and seen the original 1st series titles and credits recently? then see how its changed and adapted over the decades, new credits and new arrangement is part and parcel of Dr Who. No doubt in a few years time when its changed again people will still complain .

It changed in 1967 (new typeface, Doc 2's head added), 1970 (new logo Doc 3), 1973 (diamond logo), 1974 (Doc 4), 1980 (new logo), 1981 (Doc 5), 1984 (altered logo, Doc 6), 1987 (new logo, Doc 7), 1996 (1970 logo restored, face removed, credits added), 2005 (new logo, companion credit added), 2007 (altered logo), 2008 (new music, no other changes), 2010 (new logo).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7oQNE3lkNU (video skips the 1973, 1980 and 2007 versions [DT is represented by the 2006 one, which was just 2005's with the name changed], and was made before the 2008 and 2010 changes) The episode title style used on the current titles is similar to the 1987 titles, appearing at the bottom of the screen rather than centered as in every other era. |

I'm not mortally offended by it, but I don't think this year's theme tune has been the strongest and I wouldn't mind if they changed it. They won't change the visuals and that's fine by me as I quite like them.

I do hope they change the theme tune, this one is truly awful. The only thing I currently really dislike about the show.

I like the new titles, and theme tune has grown on me. I like the choral voices at the end.

I've got used to the music now, that doesn't bother me but would like to see the Title Sequence return to something more spacey. By that I don't mean go back to the CE/DT sequences, something new.....but spacey!

I highly doubt a major change will come for at least the next series, or the one after.
In actuality, not that many people probably dislike the new theme tune and opening sequence- a total of 70 people complained to the BBC about it and over 6 million or so other regular viewers didn't. Even the population on here which seems to generally dislike it is quite small in the overall context, and most mainstream viewers are unlikely to make any more than the odd passing remark about it beyond the first time they see it. This is my opinion anyway.

I want to completely lose the orchestral parts. It would work better as either all synth, or all orchestra, but the weird hybrid of the two just sounds rubbish. As I prefer retro synth music, I'd love to see them dump the psuedo-classical brass and strings.

I always looked forward to seeing each new Doctor's face in their respective sequences. What spoilt it though was the gradual transition from the 'serious/mysterious' expression (1970s Tom Baker — still the best sequence IMO) to a full-blown wink and smile for McCoy.
It kind of removed the 'alien-ness' of the Doctor's character. Anyone know why the Doctor's portrait is no longer featured? New rules for principal credits perhaps? |

Interesting that they never used to have names at the beginning - now not just the dr but the companions get "star" billing. Is this progress? (or is it just so you can turn off if it ever says BILLIE PIPER again?)
