I am at a loss. We have a BT line that two years ago was very noisy, to the extent some phone calls disconnected let alone difficult to her. After two engineer visits and a bill for three (one engineer claimed the master socket circuit board was damaged by damp, but we had a new full structural house survey that said there was no damp) we still had a much reduced noise issue. I then was advised to take it to the Chief Ex’s Office, which I did. During this process BT Wholesale had monitored the broadband and said there tests showed there was a line fault (but this was nothing to do with them).
After much pressure from me a senior engineer was asked to take over the issue. Again after a time I was told there was no fault found and as the noise was much reduced AND I had got a refund for the two engineer call (and one that never happened!) I gave up.
Last year my ISP transferred me away from BT Wholesale but as the resulting problems were unresolved moved me back. The result was a clear phone line which is what we have had until now.
With the rain a few days ago came line noise again. The modem is constantly losing signal usually as we make or receive call but at times you can see the internet coxection light going when nothing is happening. and phone calls have at time’s a lot of noise. I have put the phone/modem direct into the master socket, used a cord phone on its own and still get noise. But as usual its intermittent with short breaks that are OK. After the last time we are very concerned about a BT call out.
