Really? Thats the only decent bit of evidence for river song and the rani being connected that i've seen.

It might be a complete (but odd coincidence) or Moffat putting red herrings in for avid fans.

I still think the Rani is too obscure a character for Moffat to use in that way. A huge amount of viewers (including me if I didn't read this forum) would just be like "who" is River was revealed as the Rani.

The general public are aware of foes like the cyber men, the master, the Daleks but the rani fell under most peoples radar.

If that is deliberate it might just be a subtle nod by moffat to a classic feme fatale character.
