Many have mentioned that the doctor may travel back on his own timeline to manipulate events for a specific purpose.

I want to add to that by pointing out that there definitely seems to be something odd about the life of the young Amelia. The absence of Amy's parents when she is young is a bit mysterious and never really expanded upon.

Amy will soon become pregnant (Rory's?) and there is an episode a bit later called 'Amy's Choice' where some have reported that she has to make a life changing choice. What could this choice be?

What if she has to give up her child. Not just to anyone.......but back in time to her aunt!!. In other words the baby is herself. She has to do it or she will never exist in the fisrt place. A self sustaining loop in time.

Its just an idea. Its been done in Red Dwarf. It has also kind of been explored in the first Terminator movie, where John connor sends his father from the future to meet his mother in the past in order for him to be eventually born.

I think it's just a suggestion, like when I say 'oh and then they torture the Doctor and make Amy watch' or something. Funny no-one ever mistakes that for a real spoiler!

It was just a neat idea based on a feeling. i cant really back it up with some source!

I think SM will have thought of a thought provoking timey wimey story what ever it is.

Well, canonically, different versions of the same person can't even meet each other, so being your own mother naturally is kinda tricky...

Surely both make it less likely to be the answer, because it isn't original ?
I had presumed that the title is a nod to Sophie's Choice, it maybe that the choice is between Rory and the child?

I think Amy is an internet fans plot theory so contrived that she rips a hole in the fabric of space time, and causes all the duck to spraypaint "bad quack" on posters of a man called Saxon.

And er river song kills K9.

Yeah I did think that both baby and mother could not exist in the same timeline....

but SM is already stretching the rules on many issues e.g the whols Angels not moving when they are scared, or are still stone whhen they do decide to move. SM is at the helm so could find a plausible scenario or reason where two people could exist.

SM will probably find a way to delete the RTD years and events....so anything is possible in sci fi.

Correct me if im wrong didnt the ninth doctor see himself from the corner of a building with Rose?

The other problem with this idea, is: Who is the aunt?
It obviously couldn't be a real Aunt.

aardvark,

Not being original does not make it less plausible. After all the two angel episodes were a wink from SM to the alien and aliens movies respectively.

With the crack in time causing havoc I wouldnt be surprised if SM somehow pays homage to Terminator, Back to the future, etc by the time series ends.

As long as he avoids Van Damme's Timecop!!!

And VoTD to Where eagles Dare, but there is a difference between a nod and the main plot. I don't think Moffatt would want to appear derivative - after all as monsters the Angels aren't like Alien, its the environment that is the same.

Tennant already did bttF when he saw himself.

I thought it was said somehere that Amy doesn't actually "become" pregnant; tought it was something to do with some place or another and the pregnancy is entirely fake?

Amy getting pregnant (even if it ain't a real) is still a spoiler. Since I try and avoid them I am annoyed a bit but then again it could still be rubbish...

I still get a headache when i think about that one and spend another 10 mins or so then give up frustrated

Another wild theory whilst we are doing a bit of fiction....I think that the

I'm so glad i wasn't the only person that thought of the alien/aliens thing.

Episode 2 had more sci-fi allusions than you can shake a stick at. Its been one of the best bits of this series so far
