Can't he stop off somewhere for a change of clothes?

Are there laundry facilities on the Tardis?

Nope-he wore the outfit from Spearhead from Space throughout his first four stories, but for the next four years he wore a different outfit in every story. Always the same style, but not the same clothes.

David Tennant generally wore the same suit, even after the year that never was (although I dont know how it grew with the doctor after the global chanting moment)- there should have been nakee David Tennant if RTD addressed all the errors- bet Martha would have liked that!

The way the Doctor obtains his clothes sums up who he is really. We have no idea how the Ninth Doctor got his attire, and he was certainly the most mysterious of the three modern Doctors. David Tennant arranged his outfit in the TARDIS and planned what he was going to wear- fitting, seeing as he seemed to have a plan for anything going on really. Matt Smith lives in the here and now, and is a lot more spontanious, hence the random clothes from the hospital suit him well.

We saw, beginning with the Fourth Doctor, that like the Tardis, his coat pockets were bigger on the inside than they were on the outside. If he can apply Time Lord technology on his clothes in this way, surely it is within his capabilities to make his clothes constantly launder themselves while he is wearing them.

Perhaps he has a system like the cleansing and disinfecting lifts in the hospital in New Earth. I wouldn't mind something like that myself.

Well for a start I think it likely that the Tardis has a means of replicating whatever clothes the Dr chooses. And it goes without saying that the Tardis would have laundering facilities, although I personally think that old clothes get lobbed into space and the Dr wears a new replicated version every day.

Still, I wonder if the loss of the jacket and the discovery of a new one will get referenced on Saturday.

You never know - if the jacket didn't fall into the crack, perhaps he collected it on the way out. On the other hand, if it did, maybe it never existed? Somebody back in Leadworth a few weeks ago suddenly finds himself feeling a little chilly?

If theres a swimming pool and a library theres bound to be a laundry. David Tennant only had 2 suits and both had shrunk in the wash. When Jon Pertwee regenerated into Tom Baker the actors had different shoes on. Tom Bakers costume regenerated in 1980 into a burgundy number without anyone mentioning it. When Tom Baker regenerated into Peter Davison he had long boots on which suddenly become normal shoes.

That's quite funny! I hadn't thought of that!

Don't forget that the first Doctor's clothes completely changed, during his regeneration.

I like to think that the Ninth Doctor got his clothes from the basement at Henriks perhaps a little reminiscent of Kyle Reese's time travel sequence in "The Terminator". I can just see a shop dummy (pre-Auton) wearing Nine's t-shirt, jeans and leather jacket!

Tom Baker's outfit didn't regenerate-he had a variety of different outfits and his old scarf was seen on the hatstand during season 18.

Hello all, first post.

From what I can see so far this series the Doctor keeps swopping between two jackets:

- one a sort of olive colour with lots of flecks (The Eleventh Hour & The Beast Below)
- one a sort of biege colour with checks (The Victory of the Daleks & Time Of Angels)

he has also worn two bow ties one that is the red/claret colour (The Eleventh Hour) and one that is bluey/green (The Victory of The Daleks).

Also on the season trailer, he wears further combinations of the colours above.

So the issue with his jacket being grabbed by the angel and then him re-appearing in the woods with it on could be continuity, but I hope not, I would love it to mean something else.

Hello all, first post.
Welcome

I don't think the jacket is a continuity issue either.

Interesting. Am I remembering this wrong, or was there a kind of colour coding thing with the time vortex when the show first came back-as in, it was reddish if the TARDIS was going into the future, blue if it went into the past? I'm sure I remember that from somewhere. Could the Doctor have time sensitive bow ties?

Not unless he was moving really fast! Would that mean that the Tenth Doctor's brown/blue suits were the same?
