Anyone going to the Proms?
Managed to get tickets for the Dr Who prom on the 24th of July this morning, took a bit of doing and I was getting a tad nervous sitting in the on-line queue as I HAD to be out the door at 8:20 to get to work but made it in the end. Looking forward to it, they did such a good job with the one a couple of years ago and it's always fun to have an excuse to go to the Royal Albert Hall (why do I always mentally read that in a Davros voice now...).
Anyone else decide to go along? |

:O i was also refreshing the button at 8 but they dropped me in the queue at 1100 odd. Ah well.
As far as im aware, the arena tickets go on sale the day of the prom at the royal albert hall for £5, expect people to be in line outside of the hall from early hours of morning for them. |

Actually go there or find the site? If its a site, can anyone post a link?
But good luck getting on there at the moment... the entirety of the Proms went on sale this morning and methinks their site is struggling a tad. |

"This event has no seats available"
I've been planning to go to this since the day it was announced. I registered on the Royal Albert Hall website and logged my Proms Plan.
Due to a series of unfortunate events this morning, the earliest I could enter their Waiting Room was after 1pm. After a lengthy wait (joining at 1225 in the queue), I finally got though to see the above message under both Doctor Who Proms. Absolutely gutted. And I won't be paying Ebay prices when tickets surface there. |

I think weekend passes for the gallery and the arena may still be available. You have to look for weekend pass 2.

Also as CleverGirl pointed out earlier, the proms do usually sell stall seats on the day (think it was 500 seats at £5 each for the last Dr Who at the Proms) but you've got to get in line EARLY for those... think the queue started at 5am last time.
Edit While I think about it could we possibly devise a special form of torment for those who buy tickets to events for resale, especially events like this which fans and families are going to be desperate to go to? It is indeed Weekend Pass 2 you need, direct link: http://www.royalalberthall.com/ticke...2/default.aspx |

Sorry for being a complete dunce everyone but is this proms going to be similar to the previous one, i.e a full programme of Murry Golds music.
I absolutely loved the last Who at the proms. It highlighted just how powerful the show is. The Albert Hall packed with families and young kids listening to an orchestra. It is easy to forget that beyond these forums where everything is dissected, critised and argued for and against in the 'real world' the audience simply love the show for what it is. In the 'Music Of The Spheres' the part where DT's Doctor is talking about music being in all of us, just look at the kids in the audience, completely mesmerised by him, he has the audience in the palm of his hand. It shows just how connected he really was with his audience. Wonderful stuff. I cant think of another TV show that has this kind of power to enrapture a family audience like that that purely by its music. |

They only filmed that because DT was already committed to doing Hamlet and couldn't attend the Proms. This year both Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are presenting so there's no need to do that sort of link... although that said would you put it past The Moff to do something clever (and timey wimey) to bring The Doctor and Amy to the Royal Albert Hall? |
