Cat not eating much

We feed them the Felix As Good as it Looks range. One loves it, the other eats it but she doesn't eat very much at all and we're a bit concerned about her. We have Science Diet biscuits and special ones for teeth too which are always left out for them.

She seems lively and is outside alot, should we try to change her food? She's not putting on weight and the vet said a few months ago that she needed to.

If things don't change soon we'll have to take her to the vets but we think we could try other options first.

Any suggestions?

The obvious answer is to try other types of complete cat food, both wet and dry. I would try brands from a pet shop or vet rather than supermarket stuff, buy small bags or a couple of tins and get to know what she likes, cats all have different likes and dislikes as you have found.

You could also offer her cooked coley or tinned tuna a couple of times a week (but they lack vital nutrients so shouldn't be the main part of her diet).

Have you actually weighed her, so you know for sure she is not putting on weight?

Thanks, we'll try that.

We haven't weighed her recently no, we can just feel that she hasn't put on much.

Thanks for the advice.

Take her to the vets please, there may be something wrong internally,or something you can't see physicially due to the fur coat.

Does she do a lot of scrapping?

Not a huge amount. She had a fair few cats in the neighbourhood to see off from her garden for a while but the fights have tailed off a bit.

That is very helpful thankyou

I'll keep an eye on her this week and take her to the vet at the weekend if she is still eating nothing.

I hadn't realised the weather could affect them like that.

Me neither. Although since that thread, mine has seemed to got her appetite back. Now I'm not sure if its because its not so hot or not but it does seem coincidental.

Like yours, mine is fit and healthy so I would just keep an eye on them.
