The Fire Engine
I know, clutching at straws here, but any reason why they used a Volvo Saxon fire engine in the Eleventh Hour, other than an in joke??

the only thing i can think of is it fitted with the subtle clue that this town is still in the 90's.
rory's ID tag said it was issued in 1990, all the other cars were 90's models... part of the "time rewritten" plot. me thinks anyway

Or it could be that the only fire engines they could get hold of cheaply were decomissioned ones?
Nah, that would be ludicrous. |

In the "Beast Below" there was a sign for Magpie Electricals. Perhaps SM is just randomly dropping in references from previous series.

A thought about the ID tag conundrum - suppose Rory isn't Rory, but someone/thing has taken over his form. ie: the real Rory was a nurse from the 1990's whose form has been copied/taken over in the 2010's. The corresponding ID tag would remain dated 1990.
However, I have to add that I feel if Rory is an imposter of any kind, he doesn't actually seem to realise he is. |
