If that is true (somehow doubt it is), then EE is in big shite |

Predictable. Seems like all the big names are on their way out, EastEnders needs to shape up quick!

"Stars" come and stars go. I doubt that, whoever leaves any soap, it has much impact on viewing figures for too long. They're a very fickle audience ...!

I won't miss him. Initially his character was very on the ball, clever, witty, didn't miss a trick, but he has gone soft and lost his spark. He is too 'normal' now. he was popular before cos of the cheeky grin and his clever way round things. Not Shane's fault, just the writers have mellowed him.

EE can afford to lose Shane, or anyone, if they'd just sort out the writing. It's survived the departure of bigger stars (Dirty Den, first time round
, Angie, Grant etc), but the writing and plotting was of a higher standard then.

I agree. Den is a good memory and that's how it should be left. Bringing him back ruins that memory and the once-great character.
If Alfie does leave, then EE are in more trouble than I thought possible. Once again, as I have stated on the thread about Karen Mc Donald leaving Corrie, once an actor gets praise (best actor at british soap awards) they think they're too good for their job e.g Bruno Langley, Charlie Brooks, Suranne Jones and if it's true, Shane Ritchie |

I doubt he would leave on his own accord as he is still in quite a lot of debt, what with his movie Shoreditch going belly up. Eastenders gives him a secure monthly income, and he probably needs it.
Having said that - i do believe that Shane Ritchie believes most of the stuff written about him, so at the beginning people couldnt get enough of him and praised his every move. Having seen his speeches at award ceremonies he talks like he is the big I AM. BUT - if he does leave i think it will be back to the Daz adverts before the year is out. |

I don't think he'll be missed. I really don't think he's had that much of an impact.
In the beginning I thought he was great - a real jack-the-lad. But he's now turned into a real wimp - an irritating wimp, with his lies and his 'trust me, it'll be all right' when you don't actually have ANY faith in him at all, because he's not the winner I thought he was to begin with - he's a loser. And miserable with it. When was the last time he smiled? And once the whole Kat/Andy thing's blown up, what storylines could there be for him? |

what we need to do is get rid of Chrissie, she is such a cow, it is impossible to like her.

I'd actually be glad if he left & it'd mean they need to include more characters in the show instead of having Kat & Alfie in every episode.
For me he's had too much over exposure in the past year & this has really put me off him.

He clearly believes all the publicity about how good he is.
Anyway if he carries on earning good money from EE he may have been required to try to pay off his debts. |

I watched Shane today on some programme on Living and he was so full of himself. He said that there is an episode coming up between his character and Kat - one of those famous two-hander episodes and everyone is going to be talking about it. He has never been so stretched as an actor. The story about him leaving is also a load of rubbish. I think his contract comes up for renewal in a couple of months and I wouldnt be suprized if Shane was leaking things to the press himself in order to get a pay rise.

I am glad you agree with me. I actually think there is more chemistry between Kat and Andy than between her and Alfie and the producers are once again making the same error they made with the Slaters and featuring Kat and Alfie far too regularly at the expense of other actors. Shanes whole mumbling routine at the start of every sentence grates and I would be happy for him to follow on one of his threats and leave for a few months to do other things.
