UK's Eurovision Song - final version
You can hear it here. Better than it was, but, as it says in the report, that's like someone on trial for 20 murders being found guilty of only 16.

oh god this is painfully bad. im actually quite upset! i do enjoy eurovision, and last year we did great, and i thought it would be a sign of things to come! its nice to know we atleast stand a chance of coming top 5, and thats what happened last year. but this years song does NOT STAND A CHANCE, anyone who thinks it does is delusional. we are heading for another nil points. why oh why was pete waterman chosen?? ffs!!! thats just absolutly ridiculous it really is. he was a good songwriter - like 10000 years ago!

I don't think it's that bad, but it's not "good" enough in my judgement. The song is okay, but I really feel Josh does not have the experience and/or the big voice which will be needed for success on May 29th. You only have to watch the preview videos in which the UK is preceded by Norway. Their song is a ballad which builds to a vote-winning crescendo, sung with great power. It is a huge production in a massive stadium. Then we have Josh jammed into TV centre with a few hundred people clapping along while he looks and sounds like what he is, a contestant on a TV reality show whose previous biggest audience was at the start of a fun run.
Of course his performance will be stronger on the big night and I hope he proves me completely wrong and gets a place in the top 15. But so far the UK is one of the few countries to have scored no points on the many polls of international Eurovision fans, and I fear this will be reflected when it comes to the contest itself. And who is to blame ? The BBC of course for not putting in anything like the effort they did last year. It's within the BBC's power to promote our selection across radio and TV and have more than a just one-off programme to chose the entry. If they did that they might attract more than the basically amateur set of contestants we chose from this year. I feel sorry for Stock and Waterman but wonder why they couldn't persuade a bigger voice to take up the challenge. And now it will get even worse. If we place lowly then the masses will complain "it's all so political" and make it even less likely that a substantial act will perform for the UK next year. In fact it's not political, you have to be a good singer with a strong song in order to win. I feel there are at least 20 other countries who are better than us this year in those terms, regardless of politics and geography. |

Listening to it is like torture...though at least the production of it has been improved. Maybe they were forced to change it a little due to the opening lines of it sounding soooo like the melody of 'Kids In America' by Kim Wilde!
The vocal is absolute shite btw, and autotuned to hell. The guy who won last year has actual talent and it was a great song. Jade is a great singer and it was a half-decent song for us last year so, what do you know, we did really well. This year it's back to nil point... |

It's like stepping into a musical time warp. Absolutely dreadful, even the jury won't save us. Nil points!

Better, but still nowhere near good enough to finish in the top 15.
Bring back Jade

Ha ha, this is pure dog excrement. It's almost like we've completely given up and going through the motions now because we would never win it again in a million years anyway. I thought Jade Ewen did a wonderful job last year, she was quite classy. This is just diabolical.

Oh, well. That's us lost the Eurovision for another year then. It's a bit dull to be honest. I think they've only jazzed up the beat to compensate for his prreety good voice. That did not grab me at all. I had to try and convince myself that I liked it. His voice is the weakest part of that track. It's just not good or powerful enough. Year after year we're going to lose this contest because wannabe music producers/people who deal with music push their 'latest creation' in as the latest entry for the Eurovision for the U.K. Andrew Lloyd Webber made a total cock up of it with that Andy Abraham's pathetic entry. It takes all the right ingredients to make a hypnotic song. Examples are the following:
September — Cry For You Rihanna — Russian Roulette There might be more. The other countries are already biased against us, so we need a fantastic sounding song to force them to give us good points. |

andrew lloyd webber got us top 5, which hadnt happened for nearly a decade! jade ewen was fantastic last year imo, and it gave the impression that the UK was starting to take it a little more seriously. until this year, when they recruited pete waterman, with that abonimation of a song.
One way would be to guarantee A-list airplay of the track on Radio 1 and/or 2. Thereby leading to a bigger hit than even Jade managed last year. So perhaps they should find a song which either or both of those stations would support. |

I'm still bitter about Andy winning the vote over Michelle Gayle! That was a catchy song she had. |

Don't think UK will win with the song - it's a bit naff and reminds me of some old Steps song.
