As you appear to be more au fait with Gumtree than these people who've had their pet stolen, it would have been a good idea to ring them to let them know their mistake.

That much is true. Your original post was about[LIST][*]making the most of an opportunity to say a dog you don't know belonging to a family you don't know "would have probably the kid eventually", and[/LIST][LIST][*]questioning why someone would have such a dog around a young child, when you don't know that the photo is of the child who lives with the dog as opposed to visiting. You don't know that the dog or the child are left unsupervised - even in the photos, the child & the dog aren't on their own together. How you had the temerity to write "He's better off without it" when you have no knowledge about how they look after the dog & what it means to them apart from what was said in the advert which gives the impression the dog is loved & much missed is beyond me.[/LIST]
Giving an opinion about what dogs you think are suitable for family living is one thing. Casting aspersions about a family & a dog based on a "lost animal" advert is quite another, and saying it was good that the dog had been stolen was nasty & unnecessary. You having "lost interest" in the thread doesn't change that.
