People are always bombarding the BBC or OFCOM with complaints- it's so regular now that it's become meaningless- they can't distinguish between what they simply don't like and what's innappropriate/ offensive/ a breach of broadcasting standards

This is a non- story-
for what it's worth- (and as a new viewer my opinion may carry very little weight)
that scene was not sexy- it was funny and the episode was fantastic

people need to stop wrapping their kids up in cotton wool- kids hear worse things in the playground every day”

Quite. It's OK for kids to be so frightened by the programme that they don't want to go to bed at night, but God forbid that they might glimpse a fully clothed adult trying to kiss another fully clothed adult. What is the world coming to........

Well, I for on am a 43 yo severely disabled veteran (with 16 years service) in receipt of a war pension, I've been married, divorced, bankrupt and have travelled all over the world for years both before and during my army career, and while I don't have children of my own I have 4 Godchildren that I am very close to- I suspect that I have quite a bit of life experience... but I could be wrong I suppose

It might be more than 43 complaints if the Mail launch another Ross 'Lets all complain to OFCOM' campaign.

Judging by their apocalyptic front page this morning this is all part of the inevitable consequence of not electing Cameron by a big majority. Loss of investor confidence, the collapse of sterling AND scantily clad vampires and feisty young women in short shorts on Doctor Who.

It's the end I'm telling you!

Didn't cassandra try to get all sexy with Doc 10 when she was inhabiting Rose Tyler? I don't recall any complaints then?

I should have used another word, now I have visions of Zoe Wanamaker inside Billie Piper and I'm a little excited by the thought.

I like to disagree I am 27 years old, have helped raised my brothers children when every I could. I've traveled across Europe, I've been bullied, loved, used and I have a good understanding what is done for laughs and what isn't done for laughs.

Yes Amy attempts to take the Doctors shirt off and yes she lays on the bed in a suggestive manner. However if you watch back again and look at the doctors reaction THATS where the humor comes into it.

Yes I can be immature at times however that's because I don't want to fall into the trap of being boring and all high and mighty with life. My moral standing is perfectly fine in the world.

How does any of that stop it being comedy?

I know comedy can be hard to detect , like sarcasm, because it doesn't have hard and fast rules. But the clues are there if you look: the quick delivery of one-liners, the odd physical movements (often called slap-stick) and the unpredictable behaviour. They often appear after moments of high tension.

ps: if it helps, there are elements of sarcasm in the above post.

In that case I applaud you, sir. It's nice to find someone who doesn't swear, smoke, get drunk, fight, cheat, lie, love money, blaspheme, slander or become puffed up with pride.
Nice one!

I don't do all of those I mean I am 27 years old however I know the key things to keep me morally correct (As in not kill or take the mick out of disabled or terminal illness)

Is it really fair to keep calling Dr Who a children's programme? It almost makes me feel odd for watching it.

Anyway I think it was a great scene, really funny and I'd hate to think that Moffat and the rest decide to tone it down because of a few people with nothing better to do. There's a hell of a lot worse on tv compared to that, so why is this such a big deal?

Let's get real, people: this is the Daily Heil we are talking about. They complained that the costumes on Strictly Come Dancing were 'too sexy' FFS - purely somebody wrote something about it on the BBC website.

This is all about disempowering the BBC at all costs and anything negative is seized upon as useful artillery. DW is very useful in this campaign as it's a high profile show.

It's rubbish for people whose minds want to remain closed and should be treated as exactly that.

Is there any way the BBC can do something about the Daily Mail? Every week thee are stories about how it's trying to corrupt our children, blowing things out of proportion, snooping on the actors, it's getting rather vindictive! I don't know what they could do, complain to the PCC about victimisation, ban them from press screenings? they need to get their comeuppance!

Hi, My names UKGNOME and I am 37 (almost) And The problem that I have with the scene is it wasn't hammy enough. But the great british farce was apparent. I wanted an extended scene, and maybe the resurection of Sid Mames (yak yak yak) and Kenneth Williams (ooh Matron) to add a bit of gravitas to the proceedings.

Get a grip my fellow Whovians. Dr who has always had a bit of sexyness, and now we live in a slightly more liberal world it has a bit more. Honestly I don't know where some peoples victorian views come from. OUTRAGED AT THE SIGHT OF ANKLES!!!!

Great way to teach your child. An ADULT wears a short skirt and tries to cop off with another ADULT and shes labelled a slapper

Dont make me laugh. I am married with 2 children. Would i mind my kids watching that scene...Nope. My 2 yr old missed the point entirely as did my 8 yr old nephew. My 11 yr old neice and 13 yr old nephew knew what was going on but didnt bat an eyelid because they see much worse on tv every day

I really despare of some people nowadays

Yes, it is a shame - that people are teaching 8 year olds such nasty, dispiriting and damaging things to call women.

Who knows, maybe she suspects Rory is the kind of bloke that calls women "slappers".

It's not as if the whole scene wasn't written quite well to show the background and motives of the character. It wasn't exactly Debbie Does Dallas. She didn't demand "sport-sex" in the script (what is that, btw? Is it in the olympics?) so an 8 year old only needs to know she wanted a snog. And is confused about what she wants. And maybe should be allowed to explore her feelings on these things. And maybe even make a few mistakes along the way without fearing at every turn in her life mean minded types are going to call her a slapper.

Very well put.

Those 'bodies' that are making a fuss over this obviously have their own agendas (Mediawatch) and just want to sell 'news'papers (Daily Mail - who also have a political agenda).

The individuals here who object to it should stop being such big wet blouses.

I forgot to add that how dare the Doctor teach the viewers some morals my refusing. Most men my age would have to consider what was on offer.

but thats for a totally different thread.

Well done DW for encouraging a moral outcome from a british farce

She doesn't need to be a role model to bring something to the programme. She only needs to be an interesting character, which she is. It is not a children's programme.

Odd that someone would choose a kissogram with an imaginary friend who bites psychologists as a role model. All of which was established in the first episode.

Odd that someone would choose a television character as a role model for their 8 year old as opposed to errr.. themselves? Although maybe thats better than allowing an 8 year old to call people 'slappers' and not bothering to expain things to them!

Permission to die of laughter right now, please?”

Erm, because it's more polite than the alternative. Which would be wrong even in a family show
