Are soaps getting better?
Do you think that soaps are as good as they were 10 years ago?

Not as good as there were 10 years ago, no! Emmerdale is getting better after a few years bad patch, EastEnders has gotten worse since about 2001 - it's on a steady decline and Corrie is in a quiet patch at the moment but has been quite consistant recently.
Soaps will eventually run out of ideas surely? |

Hmmmm Corrie has done some great storylines in the past year or so, and after 40 odd years on telly its doing something right as it's still majorly popular. EastEnders is up and down really. It goes through good and bad patches, much like most soaps really. I think Corrie at the moment is the best I've seen it. Eastenders is having a rough time with boring storylines and characters nobody likes. Emmerdale has improved a lot in recent years.
Corrie ten years ago was a lot quieter and more slow paced than the storylines they have now. EastEnders was still quite new ten years ago and all its popular characters were still there, the Mitchells only arriving on the Square in 94. Its definitely plummted since. |

Part of me hankers back to the days when we didn't have incest, and rape, and axe-murderers, but when the plots involved Elsie Tanner and Ena Sharples fighting in the street over a cup of sugar that hadn't been returned.

I`m watching episodes of Emmerdale from July 2001 at the moment where Zak Dingle has testicular cancer, and the acting between Zak and Lisa are superb. In the present Ememrdale, is the ventrilquists dummy storyline as redicilous as it seems? |
