Well, he's still not top of my list (that's still Tom Baker), but he's certainly made the top five.

Hmm, if we're doing lists I'd say for me:

i think he's brilliant. he makes me laugh so much, maybe it's the writing but with DT I don't remember laughing very much at anything he said, but matt has me in stitches sometimes.

I absolutely love Matt Smith, and at the moment, he is the doctor However, I couldn't give you my top 11, as it changes every time. I'm currently still watching The Krotons with Patrick Troughton (one more to go - last cliffhanger was him telling Zoe to get away), and I was thinking, what a fantastic doctor (alien, empathic, took care of his assistants and treated them well). Then I watch the Green Death with Jon Pertwee, and I think what a fantastic doctor etc. (I could go through all of them and say the same). IMO and I know I'm probably in the minority, they are all fantastic depending on my mood and which episodes I'm watching.

I am waiting till I have seen a whole series before ranking Matt Smith, it doesn't seem fair to do so based on less than half a series. That said, I think he has been terrific so far.

It does seem a bit unfair to give him a position just yet when the series hasn't finished as Muttley says...but going on gut feeling, he is just below Ten and Two, but there with Four....But my God I love all of them!!!

Just give me a good story and any of the Doctors and I'll be quite content to label them fantastic.

Not a fault of Matt Smith, but so far I am wondering if Amy is the new doctor and he is the assistant as his charactor seems rather pushed back. It's Amy doing most of it at the moment and solving the problems.
David Tennant and Tom Baker are still my top two. |

David Tennant and Tom Baker are still my top two. maybe she solved the problem in TBB-but the last two epsiodes were not resolved by Amy- clearly the Doctor was saving her

Sorry, as a huge Dr Who fan I don't like him. Obviously not as bad as Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy etc but of the new generation i'm not keen - He looks like Frankenstein's Monster.
(BTW I thought Chris Ecclestone and David Tennant were Great- Brilliant )

Smith is definitely up there with the best of them.
The first regeneration I remember was John Pertwee>Tom Baker. I was about 7 and Baker was officialy "Stupid" and "Rubbish" in the playground at the time. Of course a few weeks later he was the best ever Dr. I'm one of those who saw Smith in Party Animals so I could see his potential and thought he was an inspired choice. But even so I think this has turned out to be the least controversial changeover yet. Whilst most were skeptical it seems that most were won over after the first episode. |
