see comments like that don't really reflect well on people and tend to devalue their opinions. Firstly because it is extremely shallow and secondly because, with the best will in the world, it is patently absurd to suggest such a thing.

Why?

Huge square jaw, Sunken eyes - just not attractive http://friendfeed.com/bryansays/e67b...matt-smith-new

Unless you're a complete dog you'd be disappointed to wake up next to him (and i'm just about old enough to be his Dad! )

Because talent and how somebody looks/attractiveness is so obviously linked eh?

Shallow comment, below the belt, and something that doesnt really need to be said in a thread commenting on his performances in the role of the Doctor.

IMO he's brilliant, a truly inspired piece of casting.

Any one can sit there behind the safety of the net hiding their own face and call someone else ugly....We forget our faults easily when they are known to ourselves alone

See, me being of the opposite sex and all that...I actually find him oddly attractive in a quirky, unusual manner.

He seems to have fit into the role really quite well, and I'm enjoying it so far! Won't make an absolute judgement until this series is over, but for the moment he has impressed me.

Even putting aside the fact that again, your comparison is absurd, and, indeed, the fact that MS is already being seen as something of a heart throb in some quarters, let's try and focus on what really matters here: acting ability....or do you think that only people you find sexy are capable of being good actors?

Dear me you must be very immature. Thats all I can say. If your old enough to be his Dad than you should be utterly ashamed of yourself because you come across as being about 13, and thats kind of insulting to some 13 year olds now I think of it.

Absolutely - I don't think people have any business making comments like that unless they are prepared to post a picture of themselves so we can make a judgement on how attractive we think they are.

Just give me a good story and any of the Doctors and I'll be quite content to label them fantastic. ”

That's what I find particularly amazing, you honestly believe it's the same person (well in my mind). I'm pleased they found another good actor to fit in the role so beautifully (and I was a bit sceptical, because Matt is the first doctor who is younger than me).

I obviously don't agree. Matt and Tom are great, but so are the others IMO. Actually, I feel sorry for you (not meaning to be offensive), but if you only liked Matt and Tom you could not have enjoyed much of Dr Who.

I think he's smoking hot, actually...but that aside, I love how he's shaping up to be a great Doctor. We all have "our" Doctor - the actor playing the role when we first watched (and mine's Jon Pertwee ), and we think no one else will ever measure up, but Matt is inspired casting; he does have an ageless and alien quality to his look, agreed, and I like the snippets of Hartnell's grumpy old s0d and Troughton's space hobo.

Works for me. And not just because (IMO) there's more male totty in the TARDIS.

On the few episodes he's done so far, he's okay, definitely growing on me.
He's not my favourite, but he makes my top 5 behind DT, CE, PD and TB... actually make that top 6 behind JP as well.

God yes. Heaven save us from vapid pretty boys.

And thats not a dig at DT. Pretty boy he was, he wasn't vapid

Hes going out with a rather attractive model so I guess he gets that last laugh at anyone that makes digs at his looks.

Its probably a good thing for our survival that the female of the species can find something attractive in the male beyond standard good looks

Heaven knows my lady is far too good looking for me!

Ah the irony. A moron bitching about other peoples appearance when they themself look like a cross between Craig Charles and Gollum.

I think standard good looks don't exist either in women or men. Obviously some people attract a majority of people and could thus be classed goodlooking, however, there is always a minority who doesn't like them. I think Brad Pitt for me is one of these people, don't know what the fuss is all about (the same with Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio). To be fair, I didn't find Matt attractiv before I saw him in Dr Who (he is also 8 or 9 years younger than me). However, his behaviour, interactions, facial expressions and intelligence as Dr Who makes him attractive.

I'm sure your lady will be happy to hear that

It's quite clear that you have no idea what women find attractive. Matt Smith is a very good looking young man with a great personality. True he's no Brad Pitt but to say he's unattractive is ridiculous.

I am trying hard but struggling to warm to him at the moment, this series so far hasn't blown me away like I thought it would

When did this thread become about his looks? Apart from the fact it is subjective and I happen to think he is very attractive, since when has being good looking got anything to do with playing the Doctor?

Not that looks have any relevance to the role (was William Hartnell "hot totty?") but I find him oddly attractive. I'm guessing Daisy Lowe (surely not a "dog") must agree.

I am loving Matt Smith's portrayal of Eleven so far - he's certainly shaping up to be one of my favourites. I thought Nine and Ten were great, but Eleven has a slightly more "old-fashioned" feel about him that makes me nostalgic for the Doctor Who's of my childhood. There's something very adorable about him, which belies the power and intelligence we know him to possess and that temper which can sometimes still slip out.

Presumably his wife thought so. William Hartnell wasn't actually born aged 58...

Saw one ep with EC in it (the one where he made fun of his own ears). He's quirky.

Saw one ep with DT in it (the one where they were in a 'plane' and alien threatened to possess all of them). He's a good actor, but he tended to make me feel he was 'acting', thus jar me out of the story. But no doubt he's a very good stage actor.

I only seriously watched DW because I knew of Matt Smith in his other BBC stints. Like his 'acting' (which feels more natural) so I find his version of the Doctor very watchable.
