What are your favourite instrumentals that you like to listen to? I.e songs with no words - they don't have to be a soundtrack. Some of my favourites are:

Adrian Johnston - The Lost Prince:

Ludovico Einaudi - Oltremare:

Ludovico Einaudi - Primavera:

Craig Armstrong - Balcony Scene:

Hans Zimmer - Tennessee:

Anyway, that's a lot there, but how about yourselves?

I love listening to Hoppipolla. It is in the soundtrack for the film Penelope but I think it is used a lot in other things too.

Explosions In The Sky have done some fantastic tracks (all their stuff is instrumental)

Yep that's used in a lot of documentaries. Love it I believe the original was made by Sigur Ros: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L_DQKCDgeM

I'm familiar with this song but I can't remember where I heard it first

Seconding Sigur Ros (not exactly instrumental but still strongly orchestrated) and Explosions in the Sky, but my favourite instrumentals often come from a guy called Olafur Arnalds - a young neo-classical composer from Iceland. Here's a few of his best tracks (IMO )

And Max Richter is another neo-classical composer who's been producing some really profound work of late:

Oh, and for those who like Sigur Ros: Jonsi and Alex (SR's lead singer and his boyfriend) made a truly beautiful album last year which is well worth checking out if you enjoy relaxing, minimalist music.

Fleetwood Mac "Albatross"

M&S adverts threatened to ruin it but it's still a beautiful piece of music
