...it's for any doctor's last episode(s). I would bring back the characters that e.g. Matt Smith's doctor, has seen throughout has time. So when it ever comes to Matt Smith's last episode, the likes of Amy, Rory, River Song, Sarah-Jane (Matt Smith's doctor is seeing her on SJ adventures) and whoever MS's doctor is a companion to in the future would return for those episodes.

Do you agree? (if it makes sence)

As long as he doesn't get killed by something, then spend 20 minutes going to visit them all across time and space, instead of getting on with the business of regenerating. That would just be silly.

I like it when the doctor just regenerates and it happens almost immediately. No grand speeches just the shock of a new body

Yes very. But for a split second when I read that, I did think you ment they were seeing each other in that sense.

I nearly fell off my sofa.

Tennants Doctor didn't have a grand speech...that is what I loved about it...just like the Second Doctor's No No No No speech

in terms of holding off the regeneration...its not the first time...Pertwee's Doctor said he got lost in the Time Votex...who knows how long he was lost for....and Davison resisted as long as he could too...and we don't know how long it was before the Ninth Doctor regenerated too...we were just shown from the moment Rose wakes up....how long time went from the moment he put her down on theTardis floor to her waking up is anyone's guess...

But this is going off topic so I'll shut up...

No I mean altogether, like in the Series 4 finale (Stolen Earth and Journey’s End). So in that episode Amy, River Song, Sarah-Jane etc are all companions to the doctor for that one episode. I don’t however mean ‘get on with the regenerating’. Also it’s a chance for characters like Amy and River Song to interact with Sarah-Jane for example. I only mean the ones MS’s doctor has saw btw.

MS’s doctor is reuniting with Sarah-Jane in the Sarah-Jane Adventures by the way.

What could happen is that the doctor regenerates un-expected without has former companions knowing maybe. Or maybe something kills the doctor which makes him regenerate after he sees his former companions, without them knowing. This makes he go around the word and time to see them again like DT did.

Some may disagree, I know.

I don't think we should bring back old characters/favourites in the specials/regeneration episodes because it begins to get predictable and repetitive.

It is much more effective to bring back an old character unexpectedly mid-season (e.g. school reunion), but (and in this respect, I think I agree with your intention) sparingly, i.e. not every season!
