i have just rewatched 'the end of time' parts 1 and 2 and just wanted to say that david tennant will always be the one and only doctor for me. he just made it for me. i don't care how good matt smith may or may not be. for me it will always be david tennant and i just wish that he had stayed for another series to work with steven moffat and make this series so so so much more special.

He was pretty good in series 2 & 3, but got increasingly annoying over series 4 and the Specials.

Matt Smith is far better, and so was Christopher Eccleston.

Having said that, he was brilliant in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. Its a shame we didn't get to see David Tennant's Doctor under the new Moffat-headed production team.

Davis Tennant. Or maybe David. Didn't he used to be famous or something?

I still cant watch part 2 again because it is too much of an emotional rollercoaster for me, but most days I watch one of his episodes, last night I watched journeys end and loved every single second.

I like all of the Doctors for different reasons, but ten will always be a special favourite of mine. I too would have loved to have seen him in the new series, it would have been groovy.

No, that was Neil. Neil Tennant. Who prior to taking up singing (allegedly) was for a time the editor of Marvel Comics UK. This is actually true.

I must've missed the news that he died...?!

Just think of all the new exciting and challenging roles he'll be able to do now he doesn't have Doctor Who restricting his schedule...

Who, Richard Hammond? He hosts that game show on Saturdays. You know, it's on before that other thing.

He was the editor of Smash Hits, and David Tennant actually chose Neil's name as his stage name as their was already a David Mc Donald .

With all due respect, I think Tennant was a brilliant Doctor, but even I got a bit fed up with his mannersims by the time of the latest specials he did. He went at the right time.
Matt is doing a superb job and has made it fresh again.

I think it's always difficult to let a doctor go, particularly if it was your first doctor (which I'm assuming David was). Give it some time, and you may come round to liking Matt Smith. However, if that won't do and you really cannot stand Matt anymore (which is fair enough), I'm sure David is doing many other projects, which you can enjoy watching instead.

David Tennant annoyed me before he took the role of the Doctor and I still remember thinking 'Oh no, why him?' when I discovered he was taking over from Chris. I did get used to him as The Doctor and even though I was never a fan he was far better than I thought he would be. I'm glad he left at the end of the last series as it was starting to get really boring with him in the role, I'm already preferring Matt Smith and it seems really odd watching DT now - in the flashback clips on Confidential last week he just didn't seem right.

dear oh dear, the RTD Fan brigade must be slacking. I thought they'd be all over this thread
They're probably e-mailing the mods asking that it be closed or pushing the alert button on the OP

Thats how they roll!

Fair enough if you prefered Tennant to Smith, but do you really have to be so stereotypically fanboyish about it? It's kind of pathetic really, you're coming across as a bit of an emo (which most of Tennant's hardcore fans actually are).

Smash Hits. Yes, that was about five years after he left Marvel I think...

You're thinking of that bloke off Tiswas.
You know-Lenny Henry.

I think, given a couple of years, Smith will become just as popular as Tennant. It seems to happen with every Doctor.

Did it happen with Colin (I'm curious because I had the feeling he never became populur)?

I think for some Matt is already as popular or better than David. It's all about personal preferences. At least the OP and others had 4 years with David. I'm only sad when we don't have the time to get to know a doctor properly. For instance, I would have liked to see more of Colin Baker (I know controversial) and Christopher Eccleston as the doctor.
