Can you imagine the uproar if employers declared it was compulsory for women to only wear skirts, i.e. trousers are not allowed, so why is it that men have to wear ties for most white collar work jobs, particularly if they need to meet customers.
It's old fashioned, archaic and oppressive, IMO. |

I have worked in a place where women were not allowed to wear trousers. Not a problem, TBH.
I know a Canadian business woman; she worked in such a place too before she became her own boss. Don't think she was that impressed. |

Do you wear it around your head Rambo style, then ?
~Vince Noir, The Mighty Boosh ['Call Of The Yeti', series 2] (c) Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, c. 2005 I love a man in a tie personally. Especially the tux ensemble ![]() I agree with Christa, the tie can be a very sexy item of clothing

I've said it before in a similar thread, but I think it is sexist that men have to wear ties and women can get away without having to wear them.
![]() Oh, I forgot, you don't work do you. You prefer all those people in ties to go to work, and pay tax so you can spend your day on DS. |

I love a man in a suit and tie.
But if I get round to overthrowing the government (it's on my to-do list), I will make them optional office attire. |

I like wearing a tie. I think an open neck shirt with a jacket makes you look scruffy. I often where a tie to work, despite not having to (usually I'm the only one
). I'm not saying you can't look smart without a tie, but it helps complete the look.

I hate wearing ties. They are so constrictive and are a part of the capitalist uniform.

I sometimes wear a tie* to work with a matching tank top vest. I am not weird or a lesbian - just like to be unique.

It's old fashioned, archaic and oppressive, IMO. ![]() I'm being serious as I haven't worn a skirt since 1999 *feels a song coming on * and I have no intention to wear one ever again! I don't think men should have to wear ties if I'm honest. It's not appropriate especially if there's no face to face customer interaction. Down with ties (and trousers )

The guy was training me at a previous job looked ridiculously hot in his suit. I may have written as much on his evalutation
![]() Didn't dare mention his clothes though! Don't ask how I managed to concentrate in that lecture - it wasn't easy!

I think I wrote "he's cute and has a gorgeous smile". V unprofessional I know!
I would have loved to have written something like that on my lecturer's evaluation but I think he might have guessed it was me anyway so wouldn't have been a good idea!
